Ben Barba

No one really knows what is happening with Ben Barba off the field, all we can go on is his on field performance.

From what I have seen he is struggling and not up to NRL standard at present. It is poor coaching to keep picking him in FG under those circumstances.

Who is to say his off field life was in great shape when he was playing well 2011-2012?

I've found that player often struggle coming back from some injuries, there is probably a sub-conscious fear of being injured again. Or if the player is playing injured it may affect their confidence / commitment.

Regardless, the coach has to decide what is going on and fix the problem. The fix in this case is probably to drop Ben to QLD cup. If the coach is working on some alternative fix ... it seems to be slow to take effect.

Pity Griffin is to much of a stubborn merkin to admit there is a problem.

I think the theory that he doesn't want to be tackled is pretty accurate. The switch to 5/8 spared him from having to take kick returns so he looked a little happier out there tonight.

Did nothing really. A couple of promising plays that came to nothing. Hunt was flying solo in the halves.

Hoffman was brilliant in defense but absent in attack. Barba at least put his body on the line to make a tackle a couple of times but was a bit of a non event.

Broncos looked good when Hodges was playing fullback/five eight on attack, but against the stronger defensive teams it's one hell of a structural mess to have Hoffman/Barba/hodges all playing merry go round. Must do Hunt's head in sometimes.

Showed great defense last night IMO. Once Milford is at full back with Barba and hunt in the halves it could actually work for the Bronx. Need to get Hoffman on the wing without any tears though

Ben Barba is so bad it may actually help Ben Hunt win the Dally M. Any game the Broncos win is usually down to Ben Hunt, so he'll be scoring all the Dally M points.

Barba did pretty well defensively last night. Still a lot to work on in regards to being in the 6 jersey though.

In the halves he went from having a negative impact to having minimal impact, so that's something I guess.

It's pretty funny a lot of this thread was spent defending Uate's form & the assumption that he's playing bad - then has an absolute shocker lol.

Made an awesome Paul Carige impersonation yesterday. Been building it up for a while, perhaps. At least he wasn't alone.
