I went up to Souths Juniors after the game, cars were driving along outside, beeping horns, windows down, Souths flags hanging out and big cheers from the crowd, one guy on a motorbike even did a wheel stand, cops just looked on.

Inside, the players came up the escalator and were ushered out onto the balcony overlooking Anzac Pde, big cheers and "South Sydney, South Sydney, South Sydney" chant. Players came back in and went up the other escalator to the function, more cheers. The biggest cheer was for Sam and Isaac got his own chant "Issac, Issac, Issac", Jason Clark was the last one to go up and he stopped, waved to the crowd before going up, another big cheer.

Dave Tyrell was there, he looked fine.

Same here, saw one old truck decked out in all the gear do at least four laps in front of the club and back around.

From a Dogs fan, congrats for the win. Huge game from some players in both jerseys. Shame so many are injured from it though I'm sure they will all be ok and come back stronger.

Enjoy the win.

Thank you, very gracious of you.

Do you think Ennis's omission re his broken foot, factored greatly in the Bulldogs defeat. It seemed to me the Bulldogs had problems all year scoring points.

They really stuck it to Souths till George Burgess scored under the posts, then they sorta hung the cue in the rack sort of thing.

Anyway, great game, congrats on making it to the GF.

I think the Bulldogs probably missed Ennis, that's true. But I think you guys really missed Isaac Luke, too. Particularly in the first half, and particularly in attack. I know his replacement played well, but I think Souths overall showed Canterbury too much respect in the first half and, with Luke there, would probably have skipped away a bit earlier. I suppose you could also say that Souths did a much better job at playing without their regular hooker than Canterbury did - because they were a better team, and very well coached. Souths very worthy winners of a classic grand final and should be definite favourites to take it out again next year. Well done.

I think both hookers being out hurt. Ennis more so for us due to the replacements. That said Mbye did a great job.

I think Hodkinson & Morris are both far from right due to knee injuries. Reynolds has said he popped his shoulder early. Kasiano being out is a big blow too. These things hurt more then Mbye in my opinion.

This all said, the Rabbitohs were the better team and deserved the win and all teams have injuries.

100% agree. When the Dogs scored I thought the Dogs had just taken control. They seemed to be controlling the game and had held out all of Souths advances. Though Souths dug in and did the same thing. The pass that someone popped off the ground before the George try was the break I think that sealed the game. I knew at that moment that they were in trouble.

The thing I am very happy with is in 3 years they have made 2 grand finals. Sadly not won them though it is still a hell of a ride then missing the finals or being eliminated in the first or 2nd round. The only one they missed was a horrible year still making the finals with all the Barba drama.

The Dogs have had some serious injury problems this year, to make the final is amazing. Especially when you consider they eliminated 3 of the other top 8 teams.

Des has done great things and the roster is only improving with Rona, Loko next year and hopefully some more quality coming along for the backline if you believe the rumours. Potentially Mata'Utai boys and also Lichaa as a young kid with Klemmer and Lloyd etc the future is very bright.

Sam Burgess popped the pass to Koriasano (?)

If your correct and the Bulldogs are successful in recruiting those you mentioned the Dogs are in for a good year.
Don't know much about the players you mentioned but they all seem young.

Look at the success Souths have had with young footballers e.g. Keary, Aavaa, Johnstonn, Walker, even Adam Reynolds is young. Then, look at Lote the Magnificent, hope he gets an extention.

I think Koroisau was arguably the unsung hero of the night. To come in at such short notice after being out for so long and having only played 13 first grade games and to produce the performance that he did should go down in South Sydney folklore. The Bulldogs were able to gain momentum when he left the field because we didn't have a specialist hooker. Sutton, Keary and Kyle Turner all tried to fill the void but hooker is such a specialist position that you just can't throw anyone in there and expect to get away with it. I felt thats where the bulldogs lost the game; they had no real direction. Mbye tried his best but hes not a first grade hooker in my view. In fact, I think if you asked Maguire, he would probably say not picking Cameron McInnes was a mistake. I think if he had his time again, he would probably pick him for sure and maybe have left out Kyle Turner.

As for the Dogs, full credit goes to Des Hasler. He has somehow managed to get a team that lacks any real game breaks (with the exception of James Graham) to the Grand Final. If Hasler can sign a real superstar, especially a fullback, then he will go along way towards winning the premiership. I think he's actually looking to make that signing sooner rather than later, hence his interest in someone like Kurtley Beale.

I have been disowned by the saints fans in jubilee ave because I apparently talk about how good souths are too much.

Anyway, congratulations. I picked you guys in rd 1.

Congrats guys. The Bunnies were awesome. So much strike power all over the park. Don't quite buy into the theory that you'll miss Sam Burgess too much next year. He had a phenomenal game and a great year but I think you've got the depth to cover him. The challenge now is to go back to back. Anyway enjoy & we'll see you in 2015.

You've got to admire all our little guys in that game.Keary,Api & Reynolds all weigh about 85kgs.They all excelled whilst giving away 30+kgs to big forwards.Whilst Luke is at the heart of our team,he is now 28 yrs---in hindsight we should maybe have tried harder to retain Api who is only 21;even at the expense of releasing Issac who was being chased by the Warriors earlier. That,of course, would have been a huge, tough decision as he is very red & green.
We do now have the Jnr Kangaroo hooker in McInnes.Api & he would have made a fine combo.

Guys like the Burgess twins[+ other forwards] are 120kgs+ which is a huge advantage in the rough & tumble of RL.
Whilst these big guys are great players,I admire more the smaller, skilful player.Keary,in particular, has been a revelation,IMO, & has made the most significant difference to the side.
If one studies the game closely it will be discovered that the small men played a monstrous role in our triumph!!
