Looks like the plumber has done it again. More "quality" people for the board. I don't want our club to be associated with these cronies. I'm just shocked and a little bewildered. Is this the type of underworld figures we want to be associated with?

A Sydney businessman fears for his safety after allegedly being threatened by Adam Kazal over a debt owed to a company owned by prominent former Macquarie banker Bill Moss.

Tom O'Donnell, who runs a solar panel business, has gone to the police after claiming he was threatened by Mr Kazal.

Mr O'Donnell does not dispute that he owes Mr Moss' company, Boston Management Services, $60,000 as a result of a court judgment.

On Monday, Mr Kazal, who has previously been reported to the police for threatening a Fairfax journalist, met Mr O'Donnell at a hotel across the road from the Kazal family's nightclub, Bar 100, at The Rocks.

He told Mr O'Donnell that he had bought the debt from Mr Moss' company and he wanted the debt repaid. "I will either be your best friend or your worst enemy," Mr Kazal warned him.

The following day Mr O'Donnell sent an email to Mr Moss' son, Stephen, querying Mr Kazal's claim that he now owned the debt.

Stephen Moss replied by email, saying: "For the avoidance of doubt the point of contact is Mr Kazal, and the total amount is as per the court order which is $60,000 ... and the payment shall be remitted to Boston Management Services as per the court order."

Stephen Moss also wrote: "Any agreements between Adam Kazal and Boston are confidential and the property of Boston." He also said further questions should be sent to Adam Kazal "as this issue is not in my hands".

Mr O'Donnell rang a former state politician who he knew to be close to the Kazal family. Mr Kazal's brother Charif then called Mr O'Donnell to see what he could do to resolve the issue. Twenty minutes later, Adam Kazal called in an agitated state threatening to harm Mr O'Donnell. "Now I am your worst enemy," Mr O'Donnell alleges Adam Kazal said to him.

The MP later rang to assure him that Adam Kazal had been hauled off, Mr O'Donnell said.

Adam Kazal, who is an undischarged bankrupt, denied threatening Mr O'Donnell or collecting debts on behalf of Bill and Stephen Moss.

Mr Kazal denied serving bankruptcy documents for the Moss family. He said he was merely inquiring about purchasing solar panels for developer friends and produced an email to this effect.

There is no suggestion Mr Moss or his son were aware of any threats made over the debt.

In a letter to this reporter from their solicitor, the Mosses claim: "On or about 22 October, 2014, Mr Kazal served Mr O'Donnell a Bankruptcy Notice for failing to repay his debt to our client. It is regrettable that Mr O'Donnell has failed to honour his commitment to repay the debt to our client and they are now being contacted by you, which quite frankly is counter-productive and unnecessarily distracting," solicitor Andrew Stewart wrote.

Mr O'Donnell said he was yet to receive any bankruptcy documents.

In March last year, former Fairfax journalist Linton Besser reported Adam Kazal to the police after he and associates came to Fairfax Media's office in Pyrmont on several occasions to complain about a story Besser had written regarding a businessman who was threatened and whose family was followed by a private investigator.

After the story was published, Besser was warned that where he and his family lived was known. While Besser was reporting the matter to the police, he received a message to contact his wife urgently. Adam Kazal was buzzing the door at Besser's residence, where his wife was home with their children. The police advised Besser he could seek an AVO but he did not.

On Friday, Mr Kazal accused this reporter of "terrorising" his family. If Fairfax Media did "a job" on Mr Kazal or his family "trust me, you will end up paying for it", he warned.

Um Bill Moss is owed $60k and he CBF'd chasing it. So he sells the debt for 50% (or maybe less) of it's face value to let some other merkin chase it.

Yeah shocking .....

the remittance is still payable to moss's company, so whoever is chasing the debt is reflective of his brand.

Debt collection is a nasty business, but sometimes you gotta get nasty when you're dealing with nasty people.

We've used these types of agencies before. Sometimes there is not much you can do when you have a court order but they still don't pay. Send the Sheriff in to take their furniture ? F**k that. What if it's a pheonix operation with no assets (Hi Spags :-$ ). There are merkins out there who pride themselves on not paying and getting away with it.

$60,000 owed to me, yeah I'd send in Ray Donovan too. Does that make me a bad person ?
