Refereeing for international games

Surely surely surely you can give away a little more at an international level. The aussie refs are biased as it is. Do we always plan to give australia a leg up... So clear vs Samoa right now.

Everyone of those penalties are justified. If you think it's biased refereeing you're an idiot.

Yes, every game should be neutral refs, the Samoans should also try and play by the rules and they won't be on the receiving end.

Oh yeh hutch the drop ball by Jennings , mmm yes penalty for sure.
What about when Samoa were trying to make a quick restart but inglis goes out of his way to slow the player down. Australia purposely goes about using slowing the play the ball down, wrestling, holding down wasting time...I've watched years of Australia doing it.

Happens every international game, why can't u see it. Ur blind as a bat. The aussie players are very smart at taking advantage of nuances in the games rules and aussie refs are so used to thinking that they have to bow to players like slater, Inglis, smith, cooper cronk. Giving Australia simple ' nrl standard ' penalties ruins the game. If state of origin was reffed the same way everyone would be talking about it...

Whether the decisions are legit or not, not having neutral refs means they can always be interpreted as biased or favoring one team. It's the same deal as last week. The ARL are the ONLY ones who can't see this.

Agreed. However there were nothing wrong with the decisions in the first half. The Samoans were penalised did to their ill discipline.

Maybe but we don't need to be nrl refereeing an international game!! That's the point.

Must be neutral refs. By insisting on Aussie refs for Aussie teams the ARL destroys the credibility of the international game in the eyes of any outsiders (and most RL fans around the world).

As for the benefit it gives Australian teams - that's without doubt - or else why would the ARL insist on it? Everyone outside of Australia can see it (and so can several fans within the country).

The continued use of Aussie refs is akin to owning the green "0" on a roulette reel - everything may seem fair, open and above board....but the margin that having that single slot provides is enough to guarantee dominance (just as similar contrivances successfully fund Las Vegas).

And it stinks to high heaven that the ARL so brazenly (in the face of all evidence and common morality) continues to stack the deck in their favour.

If you want more neutral refs, there needs to be more high class training of foreign refs. Let's face it, outside of Eng and Aus you have a kiwi and a frenchman and that's about it.

Why should they bother if they won't get a gig? Make neutral refs compulsory and there will be no shortage of refs from around the world stepping up,to the mark.

It just doesn't look good not having neutral refs,Benthem should have had that game today. It will be interesting to see who is in charge of the final, I bet it's not the above.

The kiwis should refuse to play unless its a neutral ref. Not because he is the best referee because he isn't, because that's how international sport works.

Right then that settles it.

For the 2016 4N we engage officials exclusively from South Africa, USA, Serbia and The Philippines. Should be no bias accusals there.

Then for the World Cup.......all officials drawn from the VRL. Vatican Rugby League !

Fairdinkum we could have martians offiate and people would accuse them of bias.

On the serious side we do need to build up a stock of officials from across the various nations.

Well if its a neutral ref they want then it should be Bentham, but if they want the best ref, Bentham covers both.

Perhaps target youths in all new frontiers and take them down thee officiating line rather than the playing line.

A 15 yr Canuck in 2014 could be a quality ref come the 2029 RLWC.

Neutral refs should be a given for international sport.

Aussie ref had nothing to do with the result.

Samoa are not up to NRL standard - that was the problem.
