As the title states. Yes or No.

I say yes. I say he is not much better than Hodgo or Renoylds who are half the price.

Big big waste of cap space

Probably.

But we need a player like him more than most other clubs so we are willing to spend more. And we can afford it too due to all the money we save across our roster thanks to the 'academy'.

Yes, but in 2 years time when our academy players are off contract we wont be able to match rival offers for the better ones cause Foran will be eating a huge chunk of cap space. All we will achieve is nuture another batch of quality players that we cannot keep like we did a few years back.

Option 3, don't know, don't know how much he will be paid out of cap, don't know what he will produce on the field whoever he signs with, don't know what influence he will have on players around him

he's worth 1/7 of cap space. he was already an established player and a gun at manly before Evans' star began shining and a huge part of manly's success. you can easily build a quality squad of 24 players around him on that cap space. halfs that can ball play and defend are a rare commodity. hope we get him.

Success also breeds loyalty, look at the eagles and storm. Guys like Manu, Gower, Edwards got their chances here first ao hopefully they'll stay for less while guys like lussick who are on fat pay checks wont. Parra juniors like pauli, paulo and tepai wilo also hopefully stick around for less

If the 'academy' is any good we'll have new ones coming through to replace them.

Yes. To change our culture.

2017 is the new TV rights renewal right? Cap will go up.

Ala how sandow is now not on such an expensive contract relatively

Furthermore, he will attract other talent over

If the "academy" was any good, we wouldn't be chasing Foran..

good halves are very hard to find. Parra haven't had any since the 80s.

It depends on who we put around him (providing we sign him). If we resign Sandow for roughly his current salary (550k) that's 1.5 Mil tied up in your halfs. That's not too shabby.

This is all a bit premature though.

Well Brad Arthur wants him and who really knows how much is in the cap. Every signing we get seems to be always over priced.

If we get Foran for anything under 1million on the cap it's an absolute steal, considering we are paying a Plodder like Lussick 450k.

From a fan of another team it depends completely on how much space under the cap he is taking.

If its like $800k it's probably fair for what he offers.
If its $1m plus I think it's overs. but it really only matters when/if it effects signing/re-signing other players.

If he is on more then Hayne was under the salary cap, its a poor deal IMO. Unless you can get Hayne back outside of the salary cap in which case you have two premiership quality spine players for the cost of one. Throw in Peats and the halfback could be Kelly and you could still win a grand final.

What a stupid comment. Name one club that doesn't buy players. Do they all have shit academies?

A junior development system doesn't guarantee a certain star at a certain position. It stacks the odds in your favour across your entire squad. Then you can afford to buy the players you need.

If we don't sign quality players the same people bitch and moan that we aren't doing enough to recruit them to the club. Foran is worth what ever he is being offered. Particularly given the cap increases. To wait for the academy players to mature and not sign someone like Foran if he is available based on that is even more ridiculous.
