Penalty Differentials

Fascinating article:

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ne...igning-rabbitohs/story-fngr8ice-1227258515619

Over the last 10 years the Roosters have a penalty differential of -297. They have not finished with a season with a positive penalty differential in 10 years. Over the same period, Souths have a +153 differential! Souths have had a positive penalty differential for eight consecutive seasons.

Certainly makes them hard to beat.

The Roosters just can't buy a penalty.

"Over the past seven years, the Roosters have a -297 penalty differential. The next worst is the Bulldogs on -104. Souths of course, lead on +153. That’s a 450 penalty advantage on the Roosters — or 64 a year."

Nothing suss going on there:sarcasm:

It's obvious. Roosters have been full of grubs lead by JWH. Souffs have been angels following the Burgi and Luke example.

Isn't there another story out about souffs kissing the NRLs arse while the rorters and dogs have the shits with them?

Hardly surprising.

The Roosters give away penalties to reset their defensive line, they've been doing it for a while

When you have the likes of Morley, Mason, O'Meley, Ryles, JWH and Napa in your team.....you're bound to have lots of penalties going against you.

The only player on our team that consistently gives away penalties is Ben Lowe and he's in and out of the team. We're disciplined and the Roosters are undisciplined, how is that so hard for people to believe?

What a willfully ignorant trash article. Anybody with any intelligence at all would know that an uneven count is not inherently unfair. The Roosters intentionally give away penalties as f**king strategy.

Yeah, right. I mean cause every coach wants there team to have to defend inside their own 20 metre line for 15-20 minutes game after game and make 70-80 more tackles per game for the whole season eh

This is a new topic.........

Good to see the Roosters pick up the "its a conspiracy against us" mantle and run with it.

It's not a conspiracy if the facts support it; it's an institutional analysis. The facts are right there in black and white.

And for those people who say, "They are ill-disciplined" - that doesn't explain why the Roosters don't seem to get their fair share of penalties. They are not only penalised the most, they receive by far the fewest. That's not ill-discipline, that's something else at work.

What that "something else" is, is the question.

The team that wrestles the most is also the team that is penalised the least. Doesn't that seem a little incongruous? A little odd?

Again, ill-discipline doesn't explain the Roosters lack of penalties in their favour. For instance, last week they received only 1 in general play for the entire 80 minutes. (and one other for a Cowboys kick out on the full).

But you can argue all you like, the facts speak for themselves.

Of course it's ill discipline, the more penalties and turnovers you give away the more you are without the ball. Harder to get penalties as a result. Majority of penalties happen when not in possession.
