Is LOI cricket alive in OZ? For all the shit people keep blaming India for, if it were not for India this world cup would have been a disaster.

India games rate more, draw more crowds generate more money.

Australia could not even sell out their QF in Adelaide. SCG is a sellout but mostly due to Indian fans.

CA / media are not doing much to promote the games, minimum print media coverage. News papers have 1/2 pages devoted to world cup compared to 8-10 pages for AFL, NRL, racing.

Its like Australia is not interested in the world cup (apart from die hard fans). This compared to media coverage in NZ, which has been phenomenal.

Australia's attendance average for there games in this WC is just under 37k

# South Africa/England/West Indies don't have any Cricket grounds at all with a higher capacity than 37k

# Sri Lanka/Bangladesh/NZ only have 1 Cricket ground each with a higher capacity than 37k

#Pakistan will never host a WC so there irrelevant

#NZ highest crowd of 40k in this WC was as a result of playing against Australia

Mighty Mighty Straya > Other possible WC scrub hosts

That's what a WC is meant to be,having fans show up from all over the planet supporting there team,do you think in the Football World Cup all the fans are just from the host nation and nowhere else?

NZ have performed exceptionally well would be my guess. If they win their semi they will make their first WC final which is a great achievement for them. Australia are performing at expectation, most people didn't give a shit until the business end of the tournament.

India have 1.1 billion people and massive diaspora, not surprising they are successful when they have a seventh of the worlds population to draw 11 quality players from, and can draw huge crowds.

I don't buy that argument.

Australia were playing Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval in a knockout quarter final of a world cup at home on a Friday afternoon. Australia?s national team of their supposed national sport were fighting for a semi-final spot. An event they are hosting after a gap of 23 years.

All they could attract was ~35K. Even Ind vs Ban got more and that was on Thursday.

I gotta agree with this, can't believe it wasn't a full house.
They manage to fill up Big Bash games though...

Your point being??
Test cricket is not popular in India apart from traditional centres, which is reflected in stadium attendances.

What is Australia's excuse?

Australia's crowds for test cricket are excellent, anyone who says otherwise has no idea.

seriously? apart from ashes, other tests struggle to attract decent crowds.
anyway I fear we are going OT. Lets get back to game on hand.

If India do win on thursday, this place is going to be fun
