Do any players get better after leaving Storm?

It is probably a huge credit to Craig Bellamy and the set-up he has in Melbourne. It's hard to think of many players who have got better after leaving Storm. It's even hard to think of players who have stayed at the same level.

Dane Nielsen played Origin when he was at Melbourne. He was a dud at the Warriors and is going the wrong way about it at Dragons.

You could argue that Widdop has improved. Rory Kostjaysn still gets a first grade career out of modest talent. Nathan Friend has been excellent. But blokes like Neilsen, Justin O'Neill, Todd Lowrie etc who looked good for Bellamy have been exposed as pretenders ever since. Adam Blair, obviously. Maybe Sika Manu. Probably Sisa Waqa. They leave Melbourne for better money then, as often as not, it all goes to shit.

Waqa is playing consistently well in an up and down Raiders side

Hoffman is playing brilliantly

Widdop has definitely improved

Friend left and went great with the Titans

Inglis is going pretty good too

Manu is playing at about the same level as when he left

I think the thing to remember is that often lesser teams pay overs for these players thinking that they'll bring the "Storm culture" with them, when simply that isn't true. Instead they get average players who can go well with better players around them, but can't rise above that level on their own.

Id say Kostjasyn has definitely gotten better since leaving the Storm, obviously not a big name player at either club but has gone from a (sometimes) part time benchie to a solid starting hooker.

Lima was as good for Souths in 2013 as he was for storm in his years there. Dallas Johnson was still the same workhorse for cowboys as he was for storm

Has Widdop gotten better? he played some brilliant games last year but he has been awful in a few ive seen aswell luckily for him there was always someone else overshadowing him with a worse performance. Playing in a average team doesnt help i guess.

Hoffman is definitley better, especially since his first stint. Manu is arguable imo but he has had his moments and you can see he is a pro with a pro work ethic and attitude. Waqa is ingreat form atm.

As for current players I think Proctor would bust at another club, all he does is hang of Cronks right hip all game. Chambers and Harris would bring their ability with them to a new club not sure about the rest.

That's not him getting better, that's a lack of quality options at hooker for the Cowboys, it's a position they have struggled with since Payne left.

That's a discussion for the 'How bad is McGregor' thread.

Bit early to say Hoffman is better at the Warriors, I think while at the Storm he has had better 3 game patches than he is currently having at the Warriors.

Lesson number one. Dont buy any Storm Manly or now Bulldogs ex-players.
There is a reason why these coaches get rid of them.
The dragons are stacked with mofo's from other teams.

Lol probably, but its a similar situation for a few of the guys who have gotten worse, they go to a club with a worse coach and playing roster and perform worse then they did at melbourne, not hard to work out why.

Obviously someone like Blair is just taking the piss though.

jeremy smith went alright.

Yeah he is a good one.
