It makes money because it's treated like a big deal. Its simply a question of dollars. Origin is treated like a big deal because it makes so much money

Kiwis have now beaten Oz 3 times in a row and most encounters now are pretty good/close encounters.
Are we still gunna get that tripe that Origin is the ultimate in RL?
That's fine, you know what would make even more money? A competition that is relevant to everyone in the world rather than just 13 million people on the east coast of Australia. It is a bit of a catch 22..I'd love for international football to be a big deal but those 3 origin games make the nrl millions.

It could be if people got their heads out of their f**king ass. The last RL World Cup made close to 6 million dollars.Yes the audience for international rl is at least 15 million. Its a massive sport in the rest of the world is league.

Next step, calling origin winners world champions ala Americans lol. Origin is about hype, as a neutral I enjoyed this weekends test matches as much, in many cases more than watching two states playing each other. NRL has done well over the years to create hype around origin to hide the fact it is insignificant really to all but some people in two states.
Why is this thread in the NRL section and not in the International or SOO section?
