Does Brad Arthur deserve the hype?

I actually don't think we look poorly coached, we actually look like there is some structure to our attack (yes kicking needs to better especially getting repeat sets but that is why Foran is coming) and defence is getting better - still need to work harder around the ruck and wrestle but last year we pretty much conceded tries on our own try line this year we have been defending sets.

What the coach can't control is stupid double movements, dropping balls, Falou losing it for a try etc etc etc

It doesn't look like we train together. In the first half we spread the ball wide and it gets to Taka and he pushes the ball beautifully to create a try only for Semi to be nowhere near it. Where the f**k was he if that is something we train for?

It looks like we have a stucture but it also looks like it is shown to players in videos and told to them how it's done but no practice takes place.......or at least not enough.

We aren't improving. We are regressing. A crucial part of a coach's job to improve areas that need working on and get the most out of your players. Arthur is doing neither.

Yep, we have looked worse as the year has gone on.....and unfit.

After the Warriors kicked the field goal how long did it take us to kick off? Half the team were hunched over blowing big ones, the crowd around me were going nuts about how f**ked we looked.

.

Could be attributed to mental fatigue and being stuck in a rut. I remember from my days playing feeling knackered because it was exhausting getting smashed. Weird but true.

2 small sample size. Our defense is worse this year than last year. And that is with a supposed 'more balanced team' without Hayne.

Are you basing this on the same maths as the other thread? 244 points / 10 = 24.4, which is 0.3 points per game worse than last year (and not significant in any sense of the word).

EDIT: Don't worry, other thread corrected.

Yep, just two good forwards was all we needed.

Who said it was *all* we needed?

Our best player (who was also the focus of our game plan and about $1m of our cap) walked out on us without notice *after* all of the major recruitment decisions for 2015 had been made. His fanboys keep saying 'oh well he's chasing his dream' (which is fine....just chase your dream at the end of your contract), but don't you reckon that has a huge impact on a coaches ability to develop a team from one year to next? This is why we are stuck with utility backups like Robinson slotting in as a first choice FG player. There have been some pretty severe constraints on the coaches ability to develop the squad thus far.

You would think that Arthur would have developed some/any kind of improvement in our team whether Hayne is here or not. No one can seem to point out what exactly Arthur is improving, other than his own personality of being a straight up, honest bloke?

Arthur is basically a rookie coach still learning, however if our board sack him before his contract is due to expire that will just about do me. We need to stick with him.

That's where I beg to differ. Why would you think there would an aggregate improvement in the circumstances? Partic. when Hayne's loss was compounded with early injuries to the remaining few NRL level backs (other than Hoppa).

I actually do think that our 'regular' defense is marginally better this year (haven't seen yesterday's game yet). The first Warriors game and GC game are obvious exceptions to that. Our lack of threat in the backline affects our attack, and it also affects how we play the game, how the opposition choose to defend and ultimately where and how we turn the ball over to the opposition....which flows on to defensive workload.

Our defence was much better today.

Yes against a team decimated with injuries....talk about wearing rose coloured glasses, how was our attack poo, handling, slow play the balls and our attack in general? f**k people frustrate me with these silly inane comments, they were abysmal today.....full f**ken stop, any other team would have pulverised NZ today, they lucked out playin parra.

You know Pou it was ;-)

We are a much better balanced squad and he was a shit leader, we are much better served now with blokes like Mannah and Watmough leading the way.........

You don't reckon that people constantly knocking, constantly finding the worst in any situation pisses other people off? What would you rather that we got annihilated by a below strength Warrior team? Why are the Warriors injury / suspension problems any different to those that have confronted our team throughout the year? We are bloody ordinary, we need to improve every facet of our game, but we are not a basket case. We will become a basket case if we got through another cycle of lumping it all on the coach, sacking him, starting again, sacking him.

Whatever opinion you hold, clearly the pressure begins to mount and we'll find out over the next month or so what sort of a coach BA really is and what the players are really made of.

BA has a much better footy team than Kearney or Stuart had, yet the team languishes in that all too familiar position again. We're only a couple of more losses away from season write off, need to turn it around real soon!

Not sure about that tbh...
