ORIGIN’S hatefest proved a winner for the NSW Blues team and broadcaster Channel 9, with Game II pulling the highest TV audience of the year.
The brutal encounter — won by NSW 26-18 — peaked at 4.539 million viewers across the combined metro and regional markets last night.
Nine’s coverage of league’s showpiece from the AFL mecca saw them dominate prime-time last night, winning all key demos and total audience share of 46.3 per cent.
Those shares were greater in Sydney (55.4%) and Brisbane, where 57.3% of the total TV audience watched their state side go down.

Given the population difference it is surprising only 200k more people from Sydney watched than Brisbane?

I guess it depends if SOO is on Gem, nine or neither in WA/SA and nine puts origin on 9 in Melbourne

the Ashes and origin will overlap, 8.22pm on the east coast is 11.22am in England

Yesterday's Storm vs Broncos match got strong ratings, one of the highest rated Sunday matches of the year (up there with Rabbitohs vs Roosters Rd 2 and Rabbitohs vs Tigers Rd 3)

It was highest sun arvo of season and beat Friday night game, pretty ordinary number in Melbourne though, barely any bump from storm being on.
