In*a fascinating interview with Kevin Ferrie in Glasgow?s Herald newspaper*last week, new RLIF chief David Collier repeated his desire to introduce a second international tournament and also hinted that more teams would have to qualify for the 2021 World Cup. This makes sense. He mentioned cricket?s Champions Trophy as an example.

A world 9s tournament every 4 years (alternating every 2 year with the WC) would be great...

Thered be a much greater chance of random small nations picking up wins and it could be taken to new locations around the world given that a 2 or 3 day event wont need to worry about the glamour wearing off.

In tandem with Touch football clinics in the local regions, its probably the best return on investment youll get in new areas...

I would like 9s World Cups staged in even years and the RLWC and champions trophy held in odd years. Eg 2017 RLWC
2018 world 9s
2019 champions trophy
2020 world 9s

World 9's should be a preseason thing, it should never take the place of legit international matches.

Michael Brown doubled predicted crowd figures - one would assume the venues were selected in the bid process before he came on board?

Great appointment and looking forward to this and the road to 2021 already.

^ We're 2 and a half years away, this type of thing doesn't really need to happen for at least a year.

WRONG

Government, Stadia and Community support all need to start now.

Need to narrow down venues and host cities, as well.

Then ticketing, transport, etc etc

You're in dream land guys. How many born outside Aus, NZ and England will be playing in the tournament? A few Frenchmen who can't make it in RU, a couple of Welshmen if Wales qualify, and semi-professional players from PNG. This is not enough to hold a WC; have a club WC instead, that's the obvious decision, but of course common sense isn't very common, especially amongst males.

We're at least a few hundred years away from being ready for a Topball World Cup mate.
