1994 tooheys challenge question

not sure where to ask this but was reading up about the tooheys challenge and there where a couple of games according to rugbyleagueproject played at the hyat regency in coolum. anybody willing to shed light on this

It was 2 of the preliminary round games in 1995 (played to get the number of teams down to 16). Brisbane beat Sydney City 12-0 and Illawarra beat Canberra 14-2.

I have very vague recollections of watching this match(es). Was it not a temporary field set up, either on or near a golf course?

At Coolum they converted a golf driving range into a football field.

Played in quarters and yes, the venue at coolum was the golf driving range.

Ahh yes the Tooheys Challenge. Some games were played mid week, some on weeks. Then you had double headers played at the major grounds like Parramatta, Penrith, Lang Park, Marathon, but later matches would be played in the bush.

I recall a game in Alice Springs. Some great memories.
