Sam Burgess not in Sonny's class.

True, Burgess is far superior. Capt on and off the field and for his country, greater work rate and far less likely to hand the ball over with a stupid flick pass. Ask yourself do you think the odds will be better for Sths winning the GF now Burgess is back or for roosters if SBW returned? Big Sam is far more influential on the potential success of the club.

failing in union is something to be proud of, its a sht house of a game.
LOL! Sonny returned to RL and won the big one in his first season back, how many years did it take Sammy? On that note any who knows RL knows it was Teo who got $ouffs over the line... No Teo and Sammy would be sittin 0.. Sonny's records speak for themselves.. RL and RU Premierships and Minor Premierships, World cups in both codes, Boxing titles etc..

 bench player that actually plays, and has an impact - no disgrace being behind perhaps the best 2nd 5 in All Black history...

Practice squad Hayne  with the drop in wickets and preponderance of 20:20 perhaps the Hayne-train(ing squad) should take up cricket as his next challenge?

Hayne is a better off-spinner than Mark Craig mah homie

Who cares about rugby? Can we stop talking about that joke of a game. Sam came to realise what the rest of us knew - learning every nuance would take years. And he didn't want to waste years of his life in a dull as shit game
Sammy wanted to prove he was as good as Sonny but failed.... Simple as that!

You can't compare Burge$$ and SBW they are too different.
SBW is a supreme athlete, Burge$$ is more like Les Boyd.

Serious question, was he in the NZ RL squad when they won their world cup? I can't remember.

Boxing Titles, please be serious.

After winning only 1 NRL Premiership and failing at Rugby Union, {unlike Sonny}, Sammy blamed thoughs around him in Union for his failure. There's only 1 SBW and SB ain't in the same class as a person or athlete.

Burgess is better.

Played really well for Bathtub in a position more suited to him.

Represented his country at a World Cup and played 5 tests in a position completely foreign to him. All in 1 year.

Had enough of the toff shithole sport and came 'home' to the Bunnies and RL.

Sammy coming back to RL is great for Souths, the NRL and English RL.

Where was SBW in his last game when he and his teamates were being manhandled by said players? Lurking out wide looking for an offload?

Burgess left him in a pile in their first enounter and played a leading hand ending his league career.

Sonny Bill had some exposure to Union as a kid. Plus he transitioned via French Rugby which is a Z grade competition.

Burgess didn't have the time to transition correctly. Still, represented his country and played a lot of first grade.

Besides, they are two completely different footballers. SBW sits back and waits for the right time to inject himself into the game. Burgess wants to be involved in everything. This is less than ideal when you're playing a game where 10 touches of the ball and 20+ tackles is considered a high work rate.

On what basis is Burgess better at League?

SBW has been a freak at league since the age of 18. I mean he utterly dominated an NRL finals series at 18. Belting quality Penrith and Roosters sides in a Prelim and GF. At 18! And then after a few years away he returns and utterly dominates in another era, leading the Roosters to a Premiership as our best player. It's the best single season I've ever seen from a Roosters player. He was ridiculous.

But alas this is a silly debate. Rabbitoh fans seemingly can't wait to say "but but Sam is better!' rather than admiring the once in a generation talents of both.

More hit ups, more tackles, more metres made and has a more overall impact in a game. He doesn't just inject himself for a 20 minute period like SBW does, he plays for the full 80!

Has great leadership too.

Top post mate.

English Rose, Roosters supporters imo need to put their hatred for Souths outside here and think logically instead of avoiding truth.
