Did not see any games but listened to Dragons V Raiders and Titans games...tripleM glowing in praise of Duffy,Mann,Rein,Aitken / for what's it worth mentioned a few times the speed of Duffty.. Shame we could not jag 1 win but as long as no serious injury to our key players, let's get the hell outta there and back home...

This...

Glymin has a slight tear in his hamstring which he had the same issue last year and JDB has a slight cork so overall nothing to serious.

Thx for the update coast...

Mary should come out and say that the team's performance and effort was unacceptable and embarassasing.

I don't care about the result, but the lack of skill, coordination, effort in defence and commitment makes you wonder what they have been doing for the past four months.

Without doubt the worst performing team out of the whole weekend - They earned a F-.

Other than Aitken, and a few flashes from Mann and Rein the rest looked like pretenders.

Glad it's done and dusted, and not a sign of things to come.

If ever there was a massive over reaction to a pre season trial carnival, that was it there.

The Dragons attack was woeful!! Rein can only pass one side of the ruck....In the last two games the ball never got out. The young kids looked good when they had the ball but were not used in game two or three. The majority of "regular" first graders were way below standard. It will be interesting to see what side Mary fields in the Charity Shield. To many Hogs.

I think a successful nines = coming home with no major injuries . So we did well . A couple of things to come from it ...Mann looks to have bulked up and looks good for the fullback spot if picked .Aitken looks bigger , faster and ready to fight to keep his first grade spot .

From last night Havili much the same very fit , fast and strong .

All those that want to shrug this off need your head read.

1. The club went through all the team announcement expose to show the fans the excitement this was supposed to bring.

2. The coach and other senior staff plus Marshall were all in attendance so that must indicate that the club expected something out of it other than come home unscathed.

2. The talisman Dugan is recovering from surgery, made captain and put at risk of injury so therefore the club must have had some vision about what it was supposed to achieve by playing.

3. The new signings had a chance to show their stuff other than Mann and Mc Carthy the rest were pedestrian and actually outshone by our juniors and incumbents.

4. The hoo ha by many on this forum around Lafai and how he should get an automatic start bla bla how much game time did he get and what did he actually do answer not much and nothing.

5. Best thing out of it was Mann and Aitken who put every one on notice that they deserve starting spots right now.

The fans of our club deserved a much better commitment across the park from all those who played and that was clearly not the case. The club, coaching staff and several players should be ashamed of what was dished up.

Aitken, as the incumbent, should be given first dibs at centre. Make Lafai force him out...not the other way around.

I can see forum members dropping off this earth before the comp even starts.
Never seen so much drama since.....maybe...last year.
Oh no, we played crap in the 9's with a squad mainly consisting of youngsters and depth signings at best (excluding 4 first graders). Our season is over. Sack the coach, sack the board !
Hang tough you blokes

well said...

purpose of this whole event was to test the waters for some up and comers and see how certain players react to this touch footy..

Screening process at best.

we left injury free ( or nearly ), and from all accounts the 13 a man side did a fine job posting 50 points with 40 minutes full of " fringe / potential " players.

But hey, lets rip in and read into this whatever we want. Free speech and all.

2016 looks like a positive year with some real competition for spots.

Umm probably not training for the nines. I'm not seeing a bad thing. Do you think the Broncos performance says anything about what they have been doing the last 4 months?

Without doubt the worst performing team out of the whole weekend - They earned a F-.

We were no worse than the Broncos.

The young kids looked good when they had the ball but were not used in game two or three.

Huh? Our game 1 side was our most experienced. Apart from Dufty, who played all 3, our under 20s played in games 2 and 3.

1. The club went through all the team announcement expose to show the fans the excitement this was supposed to bring.

Couldn't it also show that it is something a bit different? Time to try something new? Have a bit of fun?

2. The coach and other senior staff plus Marshall were all in attendance so that must indicate that the club expected something out of it other than come home unscathed.

Not really. It was held in NZ, so that would explain Marshall, and being an NRL event, Mary was likely expected to be there. Did Bennett or Griffin miss it to attend their team's trials?

2. The talisman Dugan is recovering from surgery, made captain and put at risk of injury so therefore the club must have had some vision about what it was supposed to achieve by playing.

We had to have a top 5 paid player there. Widdop misses the Charity Shield, so shouldn't we have him playing trials while we can? Benji is injured. Who else is in the top 5?

Doesn't Lafai not getting much game time kinda contradict the first point?
