Indeed - the secret with Smith is to get those early inside edges to hit the stumps more often - he's obviously a good player, but against the moving ball he will continue to struggle, you simply cannot play that far from your body.

I think he will probably stop doing it and bat more like he did in the rsa (what does Williamson average there again) if it gets him into a lot of trouble.

He mixes his technique up a bit

2 tests a few years back  that's what you lot were saying about him in Australia prior to him making Mr Slave his personal bitch.

Steve Smith, Australia's ODI captain, has a good record overall in ODI cricket. He averages 40, with a SR of 88.9.

At home, the man is an absolute beast, averaging 56.91 with a SR of 96.93. That is outrageously good.

Away from home, he averages 19.8 with a SR of 74. Now this ignores he fine performances at neutral grounds like the UAE, where is averaging a good 40 at 83.11.

But with a run of failures in Ireland, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, England, India, South Africa and now New Zealand - his inability to get runs away from home in ODI cricket, you have to wonder whether it is of concern to Australian cricket. Just 1 50, in 28 games and 21 innings.

That run output at home is mighty, but I almost wonder whether he should be captain from the bench when travelling away as it were and letting Khawaja or Finch bat in his place. Apart from the UAE and Australia, he is sub 30 everywhere else.

He has averaged something like 30 or 32 away from home since his promotion up the order. Although that was before he was out yesterday so will have changed a little.

No doubt he's not been as successful away from home, but he has played some 10 odi matches outside Australia as well since he really came of age as a player. If you're going to criticise his stats, that's all well and good, but let's at least put them in perspective.

I'm guessing you don't mean odi's because 49.8 is alright and I'm sure Steve Smith would like that for an average in Safrica

Safrican pitches are no more lively than NZ ones. More in em in Safrica for the bowlers than Straya and bouncy like downunder too, but NZ's more closely resemble England on the whole. The basin can be green as heck, scare the heck out of batsman and then when the sun shines, be as flat and lifeless as an Australian road.

But other pitches, like Eden Park, the ball can hoop sideways with swing due a lot to a drop in wicket. You must have noticed the reverse swing your bowlers got at Seddon with a ball 20-22 overs old ( and earlier) from a wicket block.

The problem for NZ juicing the wickets is that Hazelwood and Pattinson are gun. And if the wicket takes nibble, that further brings Bird and Siddle into the game with the aforementioned guns.

Its not as though Straya is the same as India and Sri Lanka with lame seamers. But our recent variable bouce special pitch made Chameera and Wagner look gun. Mind you, Wagner was bowling 160+

This is funny.

The anti-kiwi trolling has just officially started by El Diablo and Twatface, when Australia is finally on top.

Nothing during the ODI series.

Interesting.
And yet it's not in the Troll Dump Thread.

The abuse of moderator powers in the cricket forum is an embarrassment to LU.

Mention Steve Smith's caber toss batting technique and it's gone in a heartbeat. But call the Kiwis some mong looking f**ks and that's alright.

He scored 71 after being dropped on 18. After three abysmal innings in the ODIs.

But no you're right, that innings of 71 puts any dispute to bed about Smith's form at home vs away.

Yeah, El D disappeared for the ODI series, now returns to insult Kiwis...

On point though, discussion of a laughable technique is trolling, calling kiwis mong looking f**ks is apparently legitimate cricket discussion

Mods are here to protect leagueunlimited
