So our biggest issue last season was our late match fade outs. All off season the talk has been that our whole training program was changed to be more competitive for the full 80 minutes. Even our training ground had clocks and sirens installed to ensure we are an 80 minute side. Hmmm.

So 1st trial and we lead 20-6 with what 15 to go and concede 3 late tries?? If that is not a concern them I don't know what is.

Oh that's right- it is just a trial. Nothing to worry about.

Of course it isn't a concern. I'm sure the last 15-20 BA would of been trying positional changes with the team and giving the lower grade players a crack. Finishing at 20 all would of been no different as to winning 20-4.

THE Titans will be praying their forward pack stays fit this season, after the big men up front handed the Gold Coast a 20-all draw with Parramatta.

A try from Eddy Pettybourne in the dying seconds of the game was the saving grace for the Titans, after they headed into half-time staring down the barrel of a potential scoreline blowout in Alice Springs.

Despite racing out to a 6-0 lead early on, the Titans finished the first half down 20-6, with Parramatta nabbing three tries in eight minutes.

The difference for the Gold Coast club was their forwards, with the starting pack of Agnatius Paasi, David Shillington, Chris McQueen, Zeb Taia and Lachlan Burr stopping the Eels from extending their lead in the third quarter.

Things then continued to go the Titans’ way in the final 20, as young centre Nathan Davis and prop Leivaha Pulu narrowed the gap in the last 10 minutes before Pettybourne’s game saver on the buzzer.

Coach Neil Henry described the game as an “arm wrestle” but said it was heartening to see the Titans fight back.

Parramatta have been brought down from their Auckland Nines high after Gold Coast fought back at the death to grab a 20-all NRL trial draw.

Prop Eddy Pettybourne scored on the siren and Nathan Davis converted from in front to cap a late Titans fightback at Anzac Oval in Alice Springs on Saturday night.

The Eels looked headed for victory after piling on three tries in eight minutes before halftime to take the ascendency however the Titans came home with a full head of steam.

Gold Coast prop Agnatius Paasi, who was again a standout following a strong effort at the Auckland Nines, put Leivaha Pulu over with three minutes to play before Pettybourne levelled the scores in front of the 2405-strong crowd.

The Gold Coast got on the board first when Nathan Friend, in his return match for the club, burrowed over from dummy half before Junior Paulo reduced to the deficit to 6-4.

Tries to Ryan Morgan, Bureta Faraimo and Alex Twal put the Eels in the box seat however the Titans turned the tide in the final quarter.

Brad Takairangi was strong for the Eels in his first game back from a knee injury, making a one-on-one strip on Shannon Walker that led directly to Twal's try.

While winger Clint Gutherson, recruited after being told he was unwanted at Manly, also proved a highlight.

The Dyldam Parramatta Eels have ended their week in the Northern Territory with a 20-all draw with the Gold Coast Titans in their first NRL trial of the year.

In front of 2,405 vocal fans at Alice Springs’ Anzac Oval, a late try to the Titans saw the match levelled on the siren.

The first quarter began with the Titans dominating possession, with Nathan Friend burrowing over for try from dummy half before the Eels had the chance for an attacking set.

Local Territory junior Luke Kelly was instrumental in setting up the Eels’ early try, with Ryan Morgan the beneficiary of a right to left play, crossing on the wing.

The second term saw the Eels forward aim up, with Junior Paulo, Daniel Alvaro and Cameron King rotated into the side.

Alvaro didn’t last too long, leaving with a concussion early in the quarter, but the Eels stepped up their attack.

Kelly came very close to scoring himself, but the next play Paulo received the short ball from dummy half and barged over under the posts to put the Eels ahead.

Quick hands from King and fullback Bevan French saw a long distance pass land with Bureta Faraimo, whose speed saw another try added to the Eels’ tally.

Centre Brad Takairangi pulled off an incredible one-on-one strip off Shannon Walker, with a pass to rookie Alex Twal leading to his first try playing with the first grade side.

The third quarter saw more players rotated into the mix, with the two teams trading sets for most of the 20-minutes, resulting in no further score changes.

The final quarter saw the Titans begin strongly, with Nathan Davis finding some space and crashing over on the left edge.

The former Eels NYC player missed the sideline conversion attempt.

Just a few minutes later, and forward Leivaha Pulu crossed after a short ball hit his hands. Daniel Mortimer’s conversion attempt hit the left post and rebounded.

In the final minute, Eddy Pettybourne made a huge line break, scoring after the buzzer to put the Titans just two points behind, with the Davis conversion sealing the game as a tie.
