Pearce and Maloney in the halves. Pearce is in form, he is an actual half and has the Maloney combination.

Lets leave testing players in new positions to club football.

Good point.
I like what I've seen from Cleary so far though. Definitely a contender to get the spot in a couple of years time.

I agree for sure mate his progression from SG Ball player to starting FG halfback has been rapid, a year or two and he might be ready for it if everything goes well for him but after just 4 games in the NRL its to early.

Daley and Fittler were both thrown in as kids and look what it did to those plodders.

After 4 first grade games? I'm not against using young guys if they are good enough but even I think that's not enough experience.

Re Daley, he has said multiple times he feels like he was thrown in too early and he wont do it to a player while he is coach.

Instead of choosing a specialist halfback we choose a centre at 6 and a fullback on the bench? Was this Bozos last hurrah or?

Panthers skipper Matt Moylan has been called up to the NSW Origin side after playmaker Adam Reynolds was ruled out of Game Three with a shoulder injury.

Moylan initially missed out on selection as NSW coach Laurie Daley opted for Wests Tigers custodian James Tedesco at fullback.
However Reynolds was unable to train on Wednesday morning and was subsequently released from the squad, gifting Moylan another opportunity to impress at Origin level.

The call-up leaves Panthers coach Anthony Griffin with a big decision to make regarding his final side to face the Sharks at Pepper Stadium on Sunday.

English recruit Zak Hardaker made a name for himself playing fullback for Leeds Rhinos, while Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Will Smith have both previously filled in at the back for the Panthers.

Moylan to 5/8?

Good news is that hopefully Zak Hardaker will be fullback V Sharkies.

Want to see this bloke in his preferred position.

Well Fittler only played about 12.

I haven?t seen that Daley quote myself but I find that quite interesting. Daley, Clyde and Lazarus were thrown into that 89 series as kids where NSW got pasted, then they played a big part of NSW domination of the 90s.

If you?re good enough your old enough IMO. I don?t think Cleary should be picked because it?s not known if he?s good enough yet. I just don?t think NSW should avoid picking youngsters if they have the ability.

Fittler, Daley & Clyde played a little more than 4 games, and they were deadset freaks.

Give Clearly a bit of time FFS! What value is there in loading him up him up after just making his NRL debut? Had he even played a first grade game prior to Game 1 of this series?

Besides, why poison his play with Gal and Farah calling the shots? The halves will just be a puppets out there again in Game 3 while those two try and steal the show in their swansong.

Why would you not select a fresh halfback or 5/8 with a view to Game 1 next year? Instead they put together a makeshift halves combo.
Dumb.

Moylan on the bench is going full genius.
I don't get the point of having a 'utility' bench player when we have Wade Graham there who can cover a halves spot if someone gets injured. That's the thing with a utility anyway, they only get used effectively if there's an injury. If there isn't it's just a waste of a spot.

Do they want to lose? Moylan as a utility or 5/8? :?

Picking an actual halfback would've been the most obvious pick.

Exactly. With Graham and Jackson in the side pretty much every position can be covered in the event of injury. I didn't mind Bird on the bench because he can play in the back row anyway so if there is no injury he is still valuable. Moylan on the bench is dumb because he will have a Walker like impact. Moylan or Bird in the halves is dumb because neither have enough experience to play there in Origin

Wade Graham would be the perfect player to use as a utility.
