While we are talking about Doust,Why in the world we he even be meeting with the "Mouth" Mundine re entertaining any talk of a comeback. Why encourage him.His sort of publicity imo we can do without.

For this very reason alone (chating with Mundine) he should face the board and be removed from his position as CEO of the Dragons. It show his incompetant mind set - and a total desregard for the Welbeing and the business propositions of our Dragons.
Oportunity knocks - Someone in position GO!

In my (not necessarily vast) experience a CEO sitting on a board is the norm.

It's the way that the day to day operations have representation at board level.
There are many examples of CEO's sitting on boards as well as them merely reporting to Boards.
Those CEO's that often feel threatened or have disbelief in their ability like to get a board position so as to get incite as to what the board think of him/her.
As much as I agree with Doust being gone the ability / credibility of the board and in particular the Chairman has to be the bigger issue and in fact dealt with first.
The CEO appointed is merely a reflection of what the board want or consider acceptable and for them to see no fault in a poorly performing one is in fact a far bigger indictment than Doust's inability to preform and is in fact a complete abrogation of BOD's responsibility to the shareholders namely the members.

As a returning player mmm no thanks.
As an ambassador, well maybe.
To get Doust to assist in sponsorship of the upcoming Indigenous tournament, probably.

As someone stated already, Mundine, for all his misgivings, does have contacts and could be a real asset in discovering the next Blacklock, JAC or even French.

I really believe rhe talk of returning as a player is just media hype of which they know rhe Dragons faithful would respond to.

'Blacksafake' .... l came on this thread to say exactly what you've stated. Well said mate, the guy is s goose.

Only a complete imbecile would entertain employing a footballer pushing 40, who l might add, is not a team player and must surely only be interested in boosting his on ego.

Doust must go.

Because Mundine would fit the criteria Millward is trying to move away from - cheap, past his best etc.

It will obviously fail just thinking back to Ian Thorpe almost impossible to get the old form again .Chocs got no hope ,but I think that as Dragonslayer said some good could come out of it.

the standout issue IMO goes to Doust's judgement in coaching appointments - specifically after the poor seasons under his novice coach (Price), he was willing to subject the club to the exact same risk with another novice coach appointment - then rushed McGregor's renewal despite erratic team form this year and still no surety of securing a top 8.

also there appears under Doust a preference of recruiting big-name discards (likes of Packer/ McCrone/ Marshall etc.) whilst in-house gun talent like Jack Bird gets poached for lack of FG opportunity.

Whilst the CEO is not specifically accountable for 1st Grade results, he has to take responsibility when after 6 years of unsatisfactory NRL FG results under his oversight, that have led to falling club morale, attendances/ takings and membership.

No argument from me that its time for Doust to move on.

A CEO being on the Board of Dirrctors is not an issue and it is actually quite common in the business world.

The issue is simple. Our CEO is not judged on performance. We do not have a performance based culture for the back office (nor on the field interestingly enough).

There has been no CEO in the history of business that would survive in the role if it was based on the performance of Doust (unless it was a family business which could accept mediocrity - think of it as a bit like having to invite Uncle Frank to Christmas lunch every year - all the family think he is a bumbling fool who steals leftovers and makes crude remarks but still we don't know how to not invite the guy as he is after all, still family).

Our club is clearly suffering from an in-bred and paternal culture and that is why there is no accountability at either the Board or CEO level. Doust is not judged on any meaningful commercial based metrics or KPI's.

The impact of this isolationist strategy is a club on the verge of collapse. The NRL has, for now, avoided a full collapse.

Only a buyer with strong commercial acumen and governance can save us now. It should be very clear to anyone who follows the club closely, watches decisions being made and who has half a business brain that there will be no actual structural or governance change until a buyer assumes voting control over the Board and the football operations.

This in its entirety is correct, until we are sold to a company or partnership with proven success, nothing will change..We need to rid ourselves of this toxic culture that just keeps regenerating year after year..

With their season on the line, Manly played in front of their own raucous home crowd and delivered. With our season on the line we gave up our home ground advantage to our opposition and meekly fell out of the competition. I have always hated this "Right game, right venue" bullshit. This highlights how ridiculous it is.

Aa a brand, its been bitch slapped, ridiculed and humilated.
Peter Doust is a f**king joke, alongside McGregor both are big con men.
Even with Hunt and Graham coming we are nothing.

It is time for change - everyone external to these supposed leaders know.

Why can't people act like real men and show leadership and accept we need change and external help - our Board and CEO should hang their heads in Shame.

Doust made a public fool of himself as a CEO when he prematurely ejaculated over the results in the first month and extended a coach with less than mediocre results to an extension.
That's the equivalent of judging an employee's value by their performance up to morning tea.

There needs to be accountability
Yes,accountability is the way to go. The only problem with that is there is no one to account too. The Board & Administration are all corrupt. They all have their snouts in the trough. Covering one another's arse.
It's useless to even talk about this player is coming or won't it be great if we sign that prop forward.
Until the Board & the front office is renewed, just like what happened in the game yesterday against the Bullgrubs.
We are stuck with a team of players with no spirit. They see whats happening within the club.No one really cares, they just feather their own nests.
So yesterday they didn't care...to me thats what it looked like...
