Wales have already named there squad so Frizell is pretty much no chance for Wales.

Many star players missing such as Casty, Escare, Gigot, Duport, Simon etc and a few other baffling selections and omissions. I expect they will be beaten by Lebanon.

Wouldn't surprise to see the likes of Garcia lining up in the centres in a pinch.
Can't really blame them for lacking a backup FB considering Gigot and Escare unavailable.
But perhaps 1-2 more wingers would have been good - if injuries hit in the backs the campaign will come undone pretty quickly.

Rugby League Planet posted an interesting article about the USAs chances...

http://www.nospam18.com/2017-rugby-league-world-cup/3050-usa-s-2017-rugby-league-world-cup-prospects

I have to take issue with this:

given the rubbery eligibility rules implemented by the Rugby League International Federation (RLIF), one would think the net could be cast farther afield to find eligible players at the higher levels to beef up the roster like just about everyone does.

And a paragraph later
farcical eligibility rules

I don't understand how someone can criticise the eligibility rules as farcical but in the same article actively criticise a nation for choosing genuine domestic players.
The notion that a competitive World Cup is a better outcome for the game is supported by the new eligibility rules.

Several players in the final France squad who weren't in their extended squad and some left out who were.

Kheirallah is Lebanese Australian. So he'll love playing Lebanon and Australia. But without a fullback of note I'm not surprised they drafted him in. I guess he qualified under residency.

No Casty or Simon is a blow on top of the others we already knew about for sure. Duport would also have been useful. I can imagine Jullien and/or Garcia getting games in the centres.
