I’m actually all for changing the date of Australia Day but this is just another case of the modern leftie doing something to feel good about themselves without actually helping their cause. I’m sure it gets plenty of likes on Facebook though, which is all that matters these days.

Yes.

Satisfied?
Satisfied?

Satisfied that you are able to show more concern about a radio station moving a song list to another day than the death of the Indigenous people at the hands of the English invaders to this land?

Satisfied that you are complaining about a song list being politicised, but criticise others for daring to point out that Australia day happens to be celebrating the day Europeans invaded the country which lead to the mass murdering of indigenous people.

Yep, I'm real satisfied. Thanks for asking you stupid merkin.

If a non binding strawpoll is good enough to decide gay marriage its good enough for the ABC to use to see if its listeners want the hottest 100 moved.

The weird thing about JJJ and the hottest 100 in general is the best years were the ones where I was young. Which is a weird coincidence that a youth radio station appealed to me when I was a youth

Always love playing the CDs from about No. 4 to about 10... which was from the mid 90s to early 00s when I listened to Triple J. Had a couple of great afternoon shows with Merrick and Rosso then Today Today.

I know this dumb white feminist girl who is always blasting social media with crap about Black Lives Matter. I asked her if she knew the indigenous name for where she lived and she had no idea.

When did the CDs start being produced ? Not exactly sure if CDs were made during the 90s alternative music love-in, but it used to be an absolute joy to wake up to some of the awesome songs back then. You'd be pumping the whole day lol.

First one was 1993, I think.

This year Australia Day weekend is going to be a great 3 day weekend music fest.

The outrage merchants can carry on if they like but I'm going to enjoy a great weekend.

Hottest Hundred Vol 1 was released in 1994 (I was in year 12) for the best of 1993 countdown. This was the first yearly countdown as the previous few were still best of all time countdowns.

In 2004 they released a best of ten disc box as the licensing arrangement for first decade expired and was renewed. Some tracks originally on Vol 1-9 were dropped on the newer pressings of these volumes.

I believe with the end of ABC Shops a couple of years ago (ABC Shop branding is done via limited Sanity stores) that most of the Hottest 100 back catalog for the first 15-20 years or so have been deleted and eBay is your best bet. JB might have residual stock but I'm sure much of Vol 1-15 was returned .

Some People Aren’t Happy About Kendrick Lamar’s Hottest 100 Win

Kendrick Lamar made history over the weekend by becoming the first person of colour to top triple j‘s Hottest 100, but his victory has still managed to court its fair share of controversy.

K. Dot became the second-ever hip hop artist to claim the countdown’s #1 spot, and also broke a Hottest 100 curse by becoming the first act to make the leap from #2 to #1, after coming runner-up with ‘King merkina’ in 2015.

Despite Lamar’s accomplishments, his Hottest 100 win has been met with some criticism online, mainly due to its lyrical content.

Triple j acknowledged HUMBLE.’s controversial lyrics after Lamar’s win, including the fact that the song’s “Lil’ bitch” hook led to a string of complaints on the triple j text line. The station also noted people’s differing opinions of the lines, “I’m so f**kin’ sick and tired of the Photoshop / Show me somethin’ natural like afro on Richard Pryor / Show me somethin’ natural like ass with some stretch marks.”

Others criticised the song’s victory online (including on the Music Feeds Facebook page), calling the song “sexist” or just sharing their general dislike of the track:

Following Kendrick’s win, Triple j‘s Music Director Nick Findlay said ‘HUMBLE.’ was a “modern-day masterpiece” which “shows just how powerful and important Kendrick Lamar is as a songwriter of our generation”. He also said the station was “overwhelmed” with requests for the song following its release in March.

Meanwhile, triple j‘s ‘Hip Hop Show’ host Hau Latukefu said, “It’s a big moment to see a song like ‘HUMBLE.’ by an artist like Kendrick to be number one on the #HOTTEST100. The climate for hip hop and R&B has been changing for the good around the world and now we’re seeing it here in Aus.”

“This is so major, actually culture shifting,” said artist Miss Blanks.

“Black people/people of colour make great music, great art, and deserve to be prioritised, elevated, and supported in ways beyond a countdown and one day.”

Others praised the song’s historic Hottest 100 win, and suggested that some people’s criticism of the track may be racially motivated.

Kendrick is yet to publicly comment on his Hottest 100 victory, and it’s unlikely that he will anytime soon, especially given that he didn’t speak to triple jfollowing the weekend’s countdown.

‘HUMBLE.’ beat out Gang Of Youths’ song ‘Let Me Down Easy’ to claim first place in the Hottest 100 of 2017, after two statistics experts who were tracking the public’s vote correctly predicted the song would top this year’s countdown.

Rap isn’t really my thing but I don’t mind the song.

The disappointing thing about the Hottest 100 is the showing from Australian acts. All just boring flavourless drivel.

I wish people would stop encouraging Vance Joy to make music. Dude seems like he’d be a solid administrative assistant or a crackerjack at data entry.
