MCG Pitches

Think you get better fast bowlers and wrist spinners

But at the end of the day you have Cartwright at #6 and we have Colin, the difference is simply in some conditions Colin gets wickets over here, but like Cartwright he's primarily a mediocre middle order bat

We get better cricketers. Thats a fact mate. We are the greatest cricketing nation

Not debating that at all, cricket is well behind union here and your conditions are great for it. With the rain not only to our wickets encourage putting the ball on a length and using the wicket but we also miss huge amounts of cricket.

But we've produced our share of genuinely great cricketers, but aside from a brief period or two we don't have enough world class players to compete with the big boys

My point is simply that there is an argument that our wickets produce such a good standard of cricketer. The ecb is trying to pressure the counties into producing more "test like" wickets for the same reason.

Obviously there are physical reasons too. Australia is on average the tallest of the test nations. So even with our smaller population we have a lot of big lads who have been gifted with a fast bowlers frame

Billy stanlake is like 6'8 and can hit 145km/h at 22 years old if you trust the bbl speed gun. Id like him to put a bit of meat on him but thats such a great build for fast bowling. Haze and starc are both 6'6

Your point is correct but in England as with NZ cricket is a second rate or worse sport so the most talented kids are simply playing something else, become that way in the Windies as well

Disappointing again.

Do curators get sacked? Two shithouse boxing day tests in a row must be worth a councilling session.

The WACA curator is off to MCG. The MCG curator is off to the Gabba. I dunno who is doing Sydney as theirs is leaving too.

As I said in the OP, if they didn't get 85,000 through the gate on Boxing Day then there would be a pretty compelling argument to move test cricket to a boutique venue in Melbourne.

What crowd do you propose before they move?

You would lose tens of thousands if you move it to a smaller venue. Yup that's what test cricket needs

Doubt it will be moved anytime soon, stays where it is
