only positive i can think of is the experience for players playing at Suncorp - however after yesterday i think thats negated as there was practically no one there.

The time between games was ridiculous.

One positive - it was the first time Wynnum had beaten Norths at Suncorp since Round 5 of 1984.

Admittedly, they hadn't played them there since the Semi in 1992.

Norths did them at 'Suncorp' later in 84 though.

Oh and Wynnum beat Norths 20-0 at Suncorp in a state league game in 1988. Norths were woeful that day.

Yes, was only including BRL premiership and Queensland Cup matches, not State League.

Round 19 in 1984 - Norths won 34-28. They next played Wynnum at Suncorp in 1987 and won 22-12.

The only other game there since between them was a Semi in 1992 when Norths won 18-12. Wynnum were very unlikely semi-finalists that year. Always remember Ray Allen missing a crucial tackle in that game and the try gave Norths a winning lead - I am a great believer that players' weaknesses get exposed more in big matches, that was the case with his defence.

At least he was kind enough to Wynnum to go to Easts and butcher what should have been the winning try for them in the 1995 GF.

Another sneaky Norths v Wynnum Suncorp match was a semi final of the Woolies comp in 87 which Norths won. One of the best games of the season. Norths' forwards, led by GD, paved the way for Grauf owning Wally that night.

Norths had two 'Woolies' related victories over Wynnum in 87 at Suncorp.

In 92, I think Wynnum beat Norths at Kougari the week before that Suncorp semi final. Ricky Taylor starred.

So at least it isn't as bad for Wynnum fans. The Suncorp hoodoo only goes back to 88 for Wynnum against Norths. Not sure if state league wins doubled for BRL premiership points that year. Norths never had much fun against Wynnum in the state league that I can remember. 0 from 4 and all ar Suncorp. 82, 83, 84 and 88.

Wynnum 30-12 at Kougari Round 17 of 1992.

Probably snuck us into the finals, won 10/19 plus a draw with a negative for and against. Given the troops he had, Gary Seaton did a good job with them that year.

A game of two halves against Burleigh today.

Wynnum haven't won a second half since the first round.

I always noticed that Pride were Redcliffe's bogey team but it is stunning that they have never been beaten at Dolphin Oval.

Wynnum were 0 and 19 at Dolphin between 1985 and 2005.

Today will be interesting for them against Wynnum. The Gulls are better on paper than on the field and haven't shown much ticker under pressure this year. A serious chance for PNG to show some form.

A match up of Wynnum who have lost their last five home games against PNG who have lost their last six away games.

Yeah - Wynnum have been the biggest underperformed so far. Looked great in the trials, great team on paper, have looked great for 40-60 minutes per game. Just can’t put 80 minutes together. The big name halves have been a disappointment IMO.

Hunters have had a lot of roster turnover so that’s been a big issue for them I reckon. Similar story though - they’ve been competing most games and falling away late.

Wynnum look to lack leadership when it matters. Nobody there to call the shots when they are under pressure.

Yeah, we really have struggled against the Pride. They entered the comp as a strong team ( and won a couple of premierships) and its only been since Townsville came in that the Pride have dropped down the ladder.

As for yesterday’s game, Reddy played like crap for 65 min and only decided to make a game of it in the final 15. To be honest, the Pride only converted 1 of their 6 tries and the Dolphins were lucky. Can’ t win games by constantly making errors.

Looks like Cooper Bambling has been released by Canberra and is back with the Cutters. It will be interesting to see how they line up if/when Laybutt can ever stay on the field for a few games in a row.

Rumour is DCE put in the good word to get current SC coach down for an interview last week to be with the club next year. Would love to see the references...

Left Mounties (not sure he was ever contracted to Canberra?) and has been playing for Mackay since Round 11.

So far 0/5 though, poor bugger.

EDIT: just realised this post was from May. Never mind LOL oops
