Seems we've actually been moving further ahead of last year. 15K extra is pretty awesome IMO. This is the one area where the NRL seems to be seeing some consistent growth.

Interestingly this year the NRL funded membership staff that had been centralised for last 3 seasons have been pushed out to the clubs this year. Not sure if that is helping or not?

Looking at last year this time, the cowboys got a fair jump from their 2017 to date position versus their final one. With their performances so far this year, I doubt this would be matched. Are other teams more likely to get that kind of spike with improved ladder positions on last year to make up that difference?

GWS 20k includes their 10k Canberra 3 gamers.....so hardly taking over sydney

its about 5K
plus , another 5K from areas other then Sydney
the Midgets are just about dead last amongst all Sydney professional football teams for members
with possibly only the waratards having less

Manly are the smallest Sydney based NRL side for memberships at 12K

Isn't their 20k membership bigger than all but 3 Sydney NRL clubs currently? For all the mirth we put on them that is a bit of a poor reflection on Sydney club memberships?

Not if you take into account the 5K plus Canberra Gnat's members,and the odd assortments coming from Vic.And the huge sums spent on them,inclduing free membership with their women's team.
BTW there are at least 12,000 old South Melbourne members in the Swans
total, which is rarely if ever brought up.

The Storm with over 23,000 members in its 20th year, had more members than the Swans in their 21st year 2003 21,270.On that basis perhaps we can put a bit of sh*t on the Swans ,taking into account the huge monetary lift and advertising/marketing they get from head Office.Yet their TV ratings are still sh*thouse.

If you bothered to actually read the content of his posts you will see that large components of the GWS' membership base are actually from outside Sydney - i.e. Canberra and Melbourne (and probably kennels as well)

Yes, 3k of 30,000. So still at least 24-25k in Sydney, with probably another 1-2k interstate/intl.

GWS' component from Canberra and Melbourne makes up a much greater percentage of their member base.

Either way, the point remains that Fordham is talking shite.

also I don't think GWS has many members in Melbourne, and if they do not enough to make a big difference to their total, unlike the Swans who still have a strong South Melbourne fanbase, GWS wasn't a relocated club and its a running joke down here that they don't have any fans
