No history, you're just boring.

Anyway, Australia definitely baggy with a smaller peak. The rest have a longer peak and less bagginess.

Zimbabwe may have worn a red cap in their first 2 or 3 years before going green but I'm buggered if I can find any info on it.

Cricket Australia welcomes Darren Lehmann back with open arms
AAP
May 9, 2018 9:51pm

JUST six weeks after standing down as coach of the Australian team, Darren Lehmann has landed a new contract role with Cricket Australia in the national performance program.

CA’s website carried a story with the news, saying Lehmann would work under national performance program head coach Troy Cooley.

The likes of former players Ryan Harris and Chris Rogers also oversee the development of the squad.

Darren Lehmann is back in the Australian cricket setup.
He will work in the role until October, focusing largely on the program but also other pathways in the CA set-up.

Lehmann left his position as national coach on March 29, in the wake of the ball-tampering fiasco in South Africa that resulted in year-long bans for captain Steve Smith and his deputy David Warner.

He chose to resign despite being cleared of any wrongdoing during a saga which has resulted in a review of CA’s methods, and changes too at International Cricket Council level in the way instances of ball-tampering are policed. Cooley said it was great to have Lehmann on board.

“I had a good chat with ‘Boof’ (Lehmann) and he was really keen to continue his coaching,” Cooley told cricket.com.au.

“And what a great opportunity - having his expert skills in the areas that we need.

This is again just shockingly poor from CA.

Hosting Bangladesh is good for the game, and the only way it grows. I guess we just have to accept we will never, ever see an inbound tour from Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland or Afghanistan. Wouldn't be surprised if countries like the West Indies and Sri Lanka make their way on to that list.

The way they've sold out to Fox for money, and cancel tours against smaller countries to shoehorn in ODI series against India or England - do they no understand they're killing interest amongst some of their core fans?

Jesus, look at what this plank Sutherland has said about playing tests in northern Australia:

"To be honest it hasn't been a great success, playing in the past as we have in northern Australia. Even more so now with the rise of the profile of the football codes, particularly NRL and AFL, it just means we get swamped and it doesn't make sense. Besides the huge cost to play up there and getting broadcasters and what have you to pick it up, just makes it difficult."

'Even now more so with the rise of profile of the football codes'

Is he f**king serious? AFL and NRL have crept up on cricket only in the last decade? As opposed to being the dominant sports in Australia for almost a century?

Christ on a bike.

I'm sure the Bangas will happily play a day night test at Adelaide. :)

sounds to me like he is complaining about having to work hard in doing his job, we have fringe players and youngsters that we need to develop before next summer, this just has to be done

cricket has everything in its favour in summer so he doesn't really have to work too hard, its time he was replaced imo

So, the Ashes, India and South African tours here are meant to make enough money for CA to take a loss when other smaller teams come.

Playing f**king India and England in meaningless games is doing nothing for the game in this country.

Can't believe this decision, we need some Test to blood some new players and this series would have been a perfect opportunity.

James Sutherland really needs to go.

Not financially viable for who exactly Sutherland? CA just sold their domestic broadcast rights for 1 billion dollars. This was part of the CA FTP schedule. Did someone not include this series in Broadcast contract?

CA could have sold this series for decent money in Bangladesh and India via Star Sports. I doubt that the cost of ground hire up north compares to the SCG or MCG.

But Channel 7 is in AFL mode and doesn't want to broadcast the cricket. CA probably doesn't want its first test series since leaving 9 to be on Fox only because that will go down worse with the Aussie public than a fart in the elevator. 7 is free to say noone else besides Fox is allowed it, if they bought it, and they don't actually have to broadcast it.

And now it is getting murkier in reporting that the only reason CA agreed to this tour was to buy the BCB vote at an ICC meeting for supporting its Big 3 revamp. And now CA isn't honouring the deal. There goes some credibility for someone.

http://www.news.com.au/sport/cricke...b/news-story/84e01fbd946cb0955b5d6fd8966e2591

He [Sutherland] said the series was difficult to sell to Australian free-to-air TV broadcasters — prompting the decision to pull the pin on another Bangladesh tour.

“It is unfortunate on the part of the member [CA] not to fulfil that commitment, especially if the reasoning is commercial or financial concerns. We [BCB] also have FTP commitments that are not financially viable, but we honour those commitments.”

It follows unconfirmed rumours Bangladesh’s tour of Australia was informally agreed to by the two nations as part of a negotiation which saw Bangladesh vote in favour of the ICC reforms which put the so-called “Big Three” of international cricket — India, England and Australia — in control of the game’s finances and administration during a vote in 2014.

How had CA not already sold the series to 7 when they sold them the Broadcast rights? Did they exclude this series from those rights? I think 7 don't want to broadcast it and CA probably does not want it on Fox only even if Fox would show it.

7 have a few channels they could show it on, it wouldn't have to be on their main channel

I’m just gobsmacked that he said it was too hard to organise.

If you can’t organise an inbound test tour, you’re in the wrong f**king job mate.

Ireland forced to follow on, first time Pakistan has enforced it in 16 years. Joyce and Porterfield putting up a solid fight in the second dig. Not helped by the fact that Wilson, arguably their best first class batsman after Joyce, seems to have broken his elbow in the nets.

This is pretty well the standard pattern for a sides first ever test - extended periods proving why you were given test status in the first place, only to lose concentration for ten minutes and suddenly you're 5/5. Test cricket is a cruel mistress.
