Some bloke called up talking sport last night and said he is a good mate of our sg ball coach, he said the club has a huge wrap on one of these kids and they will be getting a full time contract straight away. He doesn’t don’t know the kids name tho.

I thought players can't sign FT deals until they are 19? That whole backline looks like they will reach NRL but can't happen for a few years

Must have been very recent. Moses Suli signed his big deal with the West Tigers before playing an NRL game. He was only 18 at the time and that was only last season.

It changed this year with the scrapping of NYC at the time there was complaints guys like Cotric and Cleary wouldn't be able to play when they did. I just can't find anywhere what the new age is

That Haas kid just debuted for the broncos at 18. You can definitely sign 18 year olds to nrl contracts, they are adults. 17yo's no, but I figure they will just have him training fulltime until the kid turns 18. If this guy is even right.

The age went from 16 to 18 if I remember correctly.

Very entertaining. A little lucky in the end. After leading 22-0 the last half and a bit wasn;t that great. A few of the boys look as thou they may have what it takes to graduate to the NRL in a year or two.

We were without our captain and co-captain. They had the luxury of selecting from 50 players for this match, wereas we had only the number of players we went up there with. You could tell we were really running out of steam, but the players showed real Panther spirit and came up with the win in the dying stages. Souths Logan did brilliantly to fight back after being down at one stage 22-0. Their ex-rugby prop forward and their fullback are future stars to look out for. For us,Staines, tricky Trindall (MoM),Crighton and Cini had great games.

Wayne has lost it. Picked David Fifita from this game in his game day 21. I didn't think he was anything special in this game

The South's Logan fullback was very impressive and thought there halfback was very good.

Friend of mine mentioned this morning there were 9 members of of the Penrith Panthers 2007 SG Ball who went on to play NRL. That side included Lachlan Coote, Wade Graham and Sam McKendry to name a few. Not all had long NRL careers and some only played a handful of first grades games but just goes to show the impact a really good SG Ball side can have, so look out in a year or two when we start to see a few of our kids pressing for first grade.

The 2006 side also saw the emergence of Michael Jennings and Tim Grant to name a few.

Keen to see of anything comes of the rumour of a kid in the side getting a contract and fast track.

Is that Christian Crighton or another player?

Tom.
