Nothing at all wrong with his technique if it works for him

but that's the issue isn't it ?

its not working for him. he's been brought up on our pitches where anyone can drive off the back or front foot, particularly that highway where he plays Shield cricket

last summer he stood on his stumps which is going back way too far

he would have nightmares in the subcontinent or any other turning pitch around the world, playing the ball off the back foot is giving the ball a chance to turn and beat him and if he cant pick them he has to play them off the pitch which makes it very hard to score, he probabaly wont have experienced that at the MCG

didn't really do anything in RSA tho
Did anyone expect him to? Can’t really blame either him or Burns for that. Getting dragged over with a couple days notice immediately after playing a shield final was always going to be tough.

Lol, Renshaw's prep for the 4th test in SA: play a four day game, immediately hop on a plane and fly 10 hours, enter an Australian squad devastated by the biggest drama since WSC including losing the captain, field for 2 days. Then bat. Then field for another 1 1/2 days and bat chasing 600.

I'm surprised the kid didn't neck himself.

All things considered, he and Burns did everything they could.

I sincerely hope Burns isn’t scapegoated again.

Certainly seems to have found a way to bat on the green English April monsters. Making runs before inevitably getting a ball with your name on it. Gotta love looking at the county runscorer list and seeing him making guys like Markram, Amla, Elgar and Pujara look like peasants.

Hopefully he can carry on like this and start making a few more runs in the innings he doesn’t belt tons.

Crazy how still he is at the crease now than when he debuted. Couldn’t be happier that he is gone back to shield and fixed his issues, unlike Bannedcroft who has been falling over his front leg since he was playing Under 19’s.

29 ball 42 not out batting at 5 for Australia A at the back end of the innings yesterday for Renshaw. Marnus Labuschagne also looked incredibly comfortable playing the SA A spinners on his way to a near run a ball 65 batting at 4.

Good signs considering how desperate we were in England for middle order bats rather than the top order batsmen we had batting out of position.

The good thing is, he is only 23yo

Had a big opportunity to grab a spot in the test side over the last 18 months with Warner and Smith out and no one putting their hand up this year (other than the Admiral).

This is what happens when you treat a young player with disdain.

See the late Phil Hughes for another example.
