Souffs Sydney nude video complaint

Ok, so I'm having this argument with a good friend of mine about the NRL's policies regarding player use of social media.

Irrespective of the circumstances behind why a player chose to expose his dong (and just the dong itself and nothing else worth commenting on), in a private video conversation (meaning that complainant may have been a willing participant and the acts were entirely consensual in nature), should the player be found to have brought the game into disrepute and be accordingly punished when photos of the act are leaked to the media?

Discuss.

If both parties were concenting the person releasing images should be charged with revenge porn offences. The person in the photos is a victim.

Ok, but put that to the side for the moment. Let's just focus on the actions of the player and the social media policy they signed with the NRL.

The player has put themselves in a position where a member of the public, perhaps someone they just met for the first time, contacts them through social media and ends up with pictures of their dong and they end up in the public space. Given the policies the players must adhere to regarding social media use, has the player brought the game into disrepute?

Discuss.

All he really said was that he cant say anything as there is an investigation going on, that presser really didn't achieve much.

Investigation to be finalised in 24-48 hours.

The End.

I haven’t read the policy so I can’t really comment on it.

I will say I would expect much better of someone like Sam given his age and position.
A younger player who has grown up with things like this being pretty normal and not having the same profile I would feel hard done by getting a charge like this.

South Sydney and Sam are clearly the victims here.

I would expect the NRL to come down hard on the perpetrators by suspending Pearce for another 8 wks and making the Roosters start next years comp on minus 4 pts.

The rule of thumb regarding social media should always be "if you're not prepared to show it to your Gran or your Mother in law, or have it printed in the press" then don't show it to anyone else

The fact is famous people have influence. When they speak people listen. Even if they have nowt worth saying or don't want to speak out, people listen. Their actions carry weight and with that comes the responsibility to ensure their actions are the right ones.

The players know this and things like this shouldn't happen but they do.

Personally I couldn't care less if a person does something stupid if no one (other than themselves) is hurt

Its why the Pearce suspension was ridiculous and why this offence (if both parties WERE consenting) shouldn't end up in a suspension either.

IF and I mean IF the person involved is Sam then the embarrassment to him and his partner is already more than enough of a penalty.

If its someone else using his phone and it was consensual then who cares? Let them play on

If it was not consensual and is found to be so then someone WAS injured and a suspension is probably warranted

Who can say?

"bringing the game in to disrepute" is something that has no metrics that I can see other than the amount of negative media attention and/or pressure on the NRL to act.

What I will say though is if such acts were conducted whilst on an away trip and the player/s concerned are married or otherwise committed then that may be enough for the outrage brigade to get the NRL to act.

Won't somebody please think of the chil.. Roosters?

Biggest wannabe victims in the comp. What a pathetic little gathering of sooks in here making an incident between a Souths player and a random all about the poor, downtrodden little chickens.

Think you are missing the point mate. Just so happens that the only player that has been dealt with poorly by the NRL played with the Roosters.

Personally I couldnt give a rats what Sam does but there needs to be consistency. Otherwise does Mitchell sue the NRL to recoup his fine, compensation for stress etc. the way he was treated was a disgrace and I do remember many a Souths fan and other fans with their pitchforks out then.

I told them they were idiots then as well.

The NRL need to stop letting NewsCorp run the game that’s what needs to consistently happen.

It's convenient how everyone on here now all of a sudden feels that Pearce was harshly dealt with, that wasn't the majority position here at the time.

Some people wanted him sacked and a couple of loons even wanted him thrown in jail.

This thread has been re-opened.

What did you have for dinner? I lashed out with a fruit salad... family orders. It contained some very cheap strawberries.

On a more serious note, the next member who makes a post that contains a presumption of guilt, potential defamation, anything that may attract legal attention will be greeted with immediate suspension. You can only come back if your appeal by email is genuine.
Yes... we are that reasonable.

Please keep in mind that ultimately, you are responsible for your own posts. At the end of the day we nazi mods and nannies are actually trying to keep you'all out of harm's way.

Good luck.
