Other places later.

There are lots of other responses but I'd like more details on them...specifically: Sound on? Do they show all NRL games? Decent sized screens?

Help me narrow these down.. still looking for the mythical Best CBD Pub that satisfies the above critiera

Great list mate. Shelbourne has been my after-work local for 12+yrs now, Helm Bar similarly. Shelbourne is great for Thurs/Friday night league but for origin games, PJ Obriens on King/Clarence is a standout for mine - always rammed with great atmosphere but the barstaff know how to keep the punters hydrated without queuing for ages, unlike a lot of places..

A friend of mine got yelled at by the barman at Surlys for cheering too loud during the 6pm game a few months ago. We up sticks and walked to the Shakespeare which was packed with league fans - another great league pub.

I don’t know if it’s been brought up, but I’m currently at the Newmarket Hotel in Mascot for a friends birthday drink. This place wins hands down. It has multiple massive plasmas, a projector in the front bar (where they keep the blinds down and it’s crystal clear) and the cherry on top is an enormous sportsground replay board sized video screen in the beer garden. All HD, sound on loud in the front bar and beer garden.

Ah yes. I forgot about the Newmarket. That projector is incredible.

Ettalong Hotel is usually pretty suppportive of rugby league. Put the sound on when the Knights were about to run on on Saturday. Food is pretty good, beer is nice and cold. Pretty friendly, but there 1 idiot who's always screaming at the races but I think he's friends with the owner..

Bangkok for when you feral league bogans come to replace your gummy teeth...

The Kiwi on Sukhumvit Soi 28
Bradmans on Sukhumvit Soi 23 (and 50m from Soi Cowboy titty heaven)
Maaaate....
Kiwi Pub’s in Sukhumvit Soi 8, unless there’s another I haven’t seen in Soi 28.

They’ve just moved into Soi 8/1. Smaller place. Hard to get a seat, and probably increasing the density of kiwis...

I've managed to catch a few NRL games on my travels. A few venues that spring to mind :
Bangkok - The Australian Pub & BBQ (Sukhumvit Soi 11)
Chiang Mai - Downunder Pub
Koh Samui - Bondi Aussie Bar & Grill
Ho Chi Minh City - Game On Saigon
Phnom Penh - Score Sports Bar & Grill
Siem Reap - Score Sports Bar & Grill
Vientiane - Billabong Sports Bar & Grill
Luang Prabang - Aussie Sports Bar
Pretty easy to find a pub showing NRL just about anywhere.
I’d be inclined to put the Aussie Pub Soi 11 down my list a bit. It’s run by a Pom, and usually full of Broadmeadows’ finest getting their fill of whatever that garbage is. Not too bad for SOO or GF.

Jeepers, why did I type 28.... thanks for pointing that out, have edited.

I went to the Kiwi on Saturday to watch the warriors sea eagles game and was shocked to see a pile of rubble with the Kiwi sign in the middle of it...took me awhile to work out there was a new Kiwi on 8/1. Doesn't smell like old men's sweaty ball sacs yet, but only a matter of time I guess.

And yeah all the tables were reserved... all blacks test was on straightafter tho. Not sure which is worse too many kiwis or too may aussies.

struggling with venues over the last two months in NYC. I had to suck it up and buy a finals pass the other day. most games starting in the 2-5am range doesn't help much.

Australian in NY showing the grand final at 415am, $10 cover charge from 3am. WTF...why do a cover charge at 3am  you know everyone that goes will drink 800 schooners
