No doubt there are, there always are, there are only 16 jobs after all, but there aren't many that are available and of a standard results-wise that you'd kick Wayne Bennett out for, and are likely to deliver the sort of results this club has become accustomed to and demands. Not many at all. I can't think of a single one.

It's a difficult situation. Bennett's still delivering pretty good results, particularly with a team that doesn't have a proper halves combination and has looked a bit outgunned in the forwards until the later part of this year. However, there will come a point when it's obvious that he's past it and at that point it will be too late to avoid a rough transition.

The board would know that a tough decision has to be made at some time, but whether that time is now, I really don't know.

Maybe he will come good but Gus is the one who talks up and gets these guys hired. Cartwright, Barrett, Brennan, and his old Dogs mates Terry Lamb and Langmack would never have coached first grade without his endorsement.
