You might prefer it this summer

Jesus, imagine watching the Eels all winter, hanging out for the cricket and then getting this...

Shit, that's largely been my adult life with the Warriors and Black Caps - I empathise lol

But at least you have the All Blacks...

Aside from the Kangaroos, Australia offers sweet FA...

The definition of a conundrum - you're an Aussie cricketer out in the field for Pakistans 2nd innings and you're seeing their batsmen, who traditionally play spin quite well, struggling to be 3 down for not many against Lyon and Holland.... Are you happy that your bloke's are taking wickets, or is there a nagging feeling of dread that at some stage you have to go out and face the music and try not to fall on to your stumps when their spinners are all over you in the 4th innings as well as knowing that 120 would probably be too much to chase let alone 350+...
Option C all the way. 4 day test = long weekend!

selector Jamie cox was interviewed at the JLT final

Said there were 2-3 blokes lucky to be picked for Australia
said all people wanted to talk about was who was unlucky not to be picked, then said he thought none of those made a case to be picked

blow me over with a feather

We're back to where we were when we got towled up by England in 2010. Probably worse actually. So that puts us in year 8 of the 5 year plan and Shield cricket not producing test quality players.

But hey, at least we have a bigger T20 comp right?

Not sure we should be written off just yet, maybe in a few tests if this continues, but that was 1 days batting on a turning pitch in Asia where we have traditionally been shit since the 80s.

Surely the only way from here is up.

I hope we can win the toss for the second test. If for no other reason than to see what, if anything changes.

We've lost the toss for at least the last 3 tests in UAE , same result every time.

Its not pitch doctoring. Its in the middle of the desert. If it was a green top or a crumbler then you'd have the right to be concerned.

Pakistan scored 482, was the pitch doctored after that?

Come off the grass.. excuse the pun. Dont they have water in the desert. This was deliberaly not watered so by day three/four it would crumble and be ideal for their swag of spinners. They got lucky by winning the toss.

Who would have thought that the home nation prepares a pitch that is going to give them an advantage. A bit of a gamble given that if Australia won the toss and batted we may have scored a first innings score that would at least put us in a position where we couldn't lose. Some of the shot selections from the Aussie batsmen were poor.

Most of this forum knew what the conditions would be like, let alone the Aussie Cricket side.

It was a very deliberate ploy by Pakistan not to pick any spinners for the tour game which was commented on as being a part of the "perfect preperation" by Allan Border last night in Commentary.

No. That's why it's called a desert.

No Australian player got out be a of extravagant spin, they got out because they played poorly.

Not making any excuses for our deplorable batting. The young blokes choked probably when they saw the diabolical shot SOS played. But should Tim have moved himself up the order to protect the pair of debutants?

No. They were picked to do a job the selectors thought they could do. The good news is they have the 2nd innings to make a better fist of it.

Is this meant as a joke. Just about every sub continental national does. led by the BCCI.. crickets greatest pitch doctors. Yes the host team takes a gamble that they will win the toss and bat in the best conditions but they know that soon the inevitable spin friendly dust bowl will surface. and any disadvantage they may have had batting second will turn to an advantage as they have the superior spinners for the conditions.
