Our 4 day domestic competition is underway- not sure why we play 4 day cricket, but however-

Central Districts are playing Canterbury. At lunch, CD are 116/3 with Ross Taylor unbeaten on 72

Otago were skittled for 108 by Northern Districts- featuring Boult (3/23) and Wagner (3/31)

Wellington 115/3 at lunch against Auckland.

Good to see the big names playing some domestic cricket.

Otago v ND is already into 2nd innings after ND scored just 136. ND's 6 regular black caps (Williamson, de Grandhomme, Watling, Sodhi and Boult) scored just 62 runs between them- and 61 of those were Trent Boult (61 off 36 balls. 6 4's, 5 6's- came in at 8 for 59). Otago are now 88/1 with a lead of 60 runs

ND v Otago has turned into an intriguing sort of a match. ND are 52/1 and need 204. Williamson at the wicket. Plenty of time. But in the context of this match, 204 seems a long way away

Wellington and Auckland heading towards a draw- probably the most notable thing is Jeet Raval's century- typically measured and slow.

CD have Canterbury on the ropes. 125/6, batting for a draw. 32 odd overs to go.

Northern Districts cleaned up Otago.

Round 2 underway-

CD 359/9 at stumps v Auckland, thanks to a century from Dane Cleaver (117) who seems to be a good bat.

ND 141/3 at stumps v Canterbury after a rain-affected day in Christchurch. Dean Brownlie with 77

Wellington 381/4 at stumps v Otago. 131* from a South African, Devon Conway. Well supported by Michael Bracewell (87)

Auckland secure a 13 run win over Wellington- most noteworthy in the game was a 120 from the in-form Michael Bracewell in a losing effort. Auckland are clear at the top of the table.

Canterbury cruised to a win over CD after dismissing them for 163- chief wicket taker was a fellow named Will Williams, who took 4-34 off his 10 overs. Tom Latham put together a tidy 73 off 84 to guide Canterbury to a 5 wicket win with plenty of time to spare.

Otago easily chased down the target of 179 set for them by Northern. Forgotten man Hamish Rutherford scored an unbeaten 102 as Otago won by 9 wickets.Young Jacob Dufty took 4-29

Canterbury beat Auckland by 6 runs on Wednesday- they scraped to 243 thanks to 89 from Black Cap Henry Nicholls and 74 from Cole McConchie. They did however fall from 4-204 to 243 all out, with Sean Solia taking 4 wickets. (He's a Samoan cricketer on a hot streak with bat and ball)

Wellington obliterated Otago, scoring 301 with a century to in-form opener Andrew Fletcher. They then bowled out Otago for 108- former Black Cap Hamish Bennett (in form) took 2-15 and Neesham 3-17. Malcolm Nofal picked up 2 quick wickets for 4 runs.

CD and ND match was abandoned without a ball being bowled

Otago beat CD in a rain affected match. Black Caps Neil Broom and Amaru Kitchen scored 68 and 42 respectively to post 208. CD were bowled out for 194 in reply.

Wellington scored 269, primarily thanks to Jimmy Neesham's 86. Devcich took 5-46. ND failed in their chase, scoring 230. Hamish Bennett took 4-34 and Malcolm Nofal 3-34.

Canterbury scored 233 with Stephen Murdoch top-scoring 83. Hamish Bennett was again the pick of the bowlers with 3-36 off his 9 overs.

Auckland chased CD's total of 226 relatively comfortable, winning by 4 wickets and with 5 overs to spare. CD's 226 was primarily thanks to a century (111) from Josh Clarkson. Benjamin Lister and Matt McEwan both took 3-33 off 10 overs, with former Black Cap Mitchell McClenaghan also took 3 wickets. Auckland's chase was steered by South African Graeme Beghin's 56 off 53 balls, as well as young opener Ben Horne's (son of Phil, nephew of Matt) 61.

Northern District sprung a bit of an upset on Otago, chasing their total of 291 to win by 7 wickets. Otago set the total with two top-scores of 71, 20 yo Nathan Smith and South African Michael Rippon (unbeaten). The pick of the bowlers was young Brett Randell, taking 3/32 including opener Brad Wilson in the very first ball of the match and Black Cap Neil Broom not longer after for 10. He left the crease at 233/2 with 10 overs left, with Anton Devcich and Daryl Mitchell getting those very comfortably- 14 balls to spare.

3 games yesterday.

Top of the table Wellington were beaten by CD in a rain-affected match. CD scored 279. Opener Greg Hay scored 83 and fringe Black Cap Tom Bruce 87, putting on a 145 run partnership for the 3rd wicket. The revised total of 196 was set for Wellington, with 39.4 overs allowed for them to do it. Despite 18 y-o Jakob Bhula's 99, they were unable to get there. CD won by 7 runs.

Otago beat Canterbury by 4 wickets in a tight match, chasing the target of 271 with 2 balls remaining. Otago opener Brad Wilson scored 126 of those. Earlier in the day, Cantabrian opener Chad Bowes (SA) scored 104 himself. Otago quick Jacob Duffy took his career beat figures, 6-35 off 10 overs.

ND scored 275, with Scott Kuggeleijn scoring 75 of those off 57 balls in an unbeaten knock. Auckland were set a revised target of 189 off 36.1 and (somehow) amassed 246 runs with Black Cap Colin Munro scoring 143 off 93 balls.

One more round until we bid farewell to two teams.

Wellington play ND- win and they likely finish top of the table. If ND will, they likely will play in the semis, relegating CD and Canterbury.

Otago are also a chance of finishing top of the table if they beat Auckland and Wellington lose.

Canterbury are no hope however they could spoil it for CD. If CD win and ND lose, CD will likely get that fourth spot.

It's likely to be-

Wellington
Otago
Auckland
Central Districts
