Yes he should we only finished a couple of points off minor premiers you all want Bennett yet we smashed his side twice this year the players like Mary and he loves the club he dont think he has done enough wrong to not be back on deck next season I think every one should just get behind him and the team because he ain't going nowhere my prediction of a signing is be an french and young Robson will be our bench player
Any coach who wins only 50% of games, loses 6 from last 9 matcahes and has no idea how to use the bench should NOT get close to coaching a first grade team.
A coach who picks old and slow over the hill players in front of young up and coming gun players should be marked never to coach again.

That’s why our coach should not be the fool we have.

If every member on here voted, maybe the club would get the message. Maybe the sports reporters would start to make a noise.

Do really think either the Club and/or media would take this forum seriously?

Good one.

Nice rhetorical question, but it’s already been covered by the Sack Mary Thread already.

Mary never learns from his mistakes. He is just like a jockey who is riding a possible winner, flogging the horse for the first mile in a two mile race, in the lead by 10 lengths only to be run down and beaten by the favourites in the field with 200 yards to go.

they should listen to us fans more!!!!!!

You have a good point. There is no good reason why the St George Board members should not be up for election each year as it is really supposed to be there to support rugby league and it's members. WIN is an investor/supporter of SGI and rightly should appoint it's Board members.

I feel certain that if the St George Board members would be up for election each year, the decisions made would more likely be in the best interest of SGI rather than their own cosy existance.

Ill say it again we were one game off having an other Mary phased out year .... The shock win over the Broncos covered another Dragons footy year ... If it would have gone to script , and Broncos wining the game would he still be the coach , after another flogging by the dogs at Kogarah playing for a fallen player showed me the coach aint for me .... Anyway he would have still been coach next year regardless of the win over the Bronx , they love him ......

The real scrutiny about McGregor should start now. Until the WIN buy-out and settlement of the debt to the NRL we simply did not have the money to invest in a credentialed 1st grade coach. Let's face facts; McGregor was appointed to the job in 2014 without an inch of experience as a 1st grade coach and he has pretty much proved to be incapable of ever scaling any heights in terms of coaching.

I thought it was revealing in the semi-final match against the Bronco's that he was seen to be giggling with astonishment in the coaches box as we racked up points. My take on this was that he was not expecting to win the game. That was astonishing and embarrassing!

Tactically he is inept. I hope I am wrong on this next point but watch for Euan Aitken to start at right centre next year and Lomax to be shifted to the wing. Interesting this point alone because (a) Lomax is the best centre prospect we have had since Gasnier and/or Cooper and (b) Aitken has had ample time to show us that he can defend and pass the ball (two reasonably critical skills for a footballer I would have thought). If he pulls this move it will show us what a dullard he really is.

I would also be interested in understanding how/why Demetriou left the club. I wonder how threatened McGregor was by him? He seems content to be surrounded by other equally inexperienced coaching staff in Young and Hornby thereby not having to be questioned.

So now we are debt free, cashed up, have a new CEO....now the real scrutiny should begin. McGregor has had 5 seasons and alas we now go into a 6th season with him as the head coach. In my 40 years of supporting the club this would just about make him our longest serving 1st grade coach. Just think about that fact for a minute. Paul "Mary" McGregor is our clubs longest serving 1st grade coach in 40 years. What does that tell you about the state of the club over these last few years?

There is even a bigger problem to face when it is clear to our Board that Mary needs to go. Dean Young is next in line and deals have been done to make this happen. It would take a top grade coach to put his hand up if we want to progress.

Possm, if you are right about Dean Young, and I tend to think that you probably might be then that his absolutely ridiculous. Nathan Brown...no coaching experience...fail. Steve Price...no coaching experience...fail. Paul McGregor...no coaching experience...fail. I am not sure if that constitutes a pattern right there.

Dean Young may well turn out to be a tremendous coach and to that end if I was the CEO I would organise for him to have a posting at a Super League club. He needs to get experience and exposure to other systems outside of ours. Further, who has Dean Youngs' coaching mentors been? Paul McGregor, Steve Price, his dad?

If certain undertaking have been made by the outgoing CEO I trust they now become "null and void". I mean who would make a deal with a future coach who has never coached? What leverage would Dean Young possibly have to negotiate such a deal? Perhaps the threat is "you could lose me to the Dapto Canaries". Deals like these are negotiated with proven winners, not Dean Young. This is where good governance at a board level is paramount.

Again Possm, I hope you are wrong but I suspect you are right!

I loved how Dean Young played his footy.

With his size and power, he wasn’t entitled to play like a back. One of my favourites.

A Brad Clyde with ball skills.

I respect your right to have aview on Dean Young the player. We are talking about Dean Young the 1st grade coach in waiting however!

Now back to your comparison of Dean Young with Bradley Clyde. Have you ever considered a psychiatric evaluation? Bradley Clyde = one of best backrow forwards of the last 40 years. Dean Young = a tremendous work effort that allowed an average player to play a few weight divisions above his real ambition. I loved Dean Young but comparing him to Bradley Clyde? Hang on a minute...are you Dean Youngs mother?

That’s fair comment I spose. I won’t press the comparison any further. Thanks.
