Once Manly pay him out (as they should), he will probably be an assistant somewhere again for a year or two before another opportunity comes up (depending on how he goes with that club).
If they pay him out, how can they afford Des and his army of staff?

Didnt he resign? Why would Manly need to pay him out and why is he still on the books? Generally if you resign from a position its your choice and you work notice and thats it.

He gave 12 months notice, so the club needs to pay him to that date regardless.

There is a chance another club will sign him the way he is pumped up. Barrett is just useless. I never understood why people ever rated him as a coach, he had a poor record with Penrith under 20’s even before he was in charge of Manly.

Praying he never coaches Origin.

He did bring this whole shitshow on himself so unlikey, he had zero past results or pedigree to start a war with his employer, one would think the bloke didn't think it through.

How can you give 12 months notice in July? So you are going to exit midway through the following season. His position was untenable from the moment he gave notice.

Barrett gave 12 months notice and will have to work that time out doing whatever his contract say Manly can make him do, unless Manly cut him loose early in which case they have to pay out his notice period.

Fair enough, if he gave 12 months notice, very strange thing to do mid season! then he is a dipsht and deserves what he gets. Not sure if he was calling their bluff or genuinely thought it a good idea to tell your employer your going to leave in a years time. Either way dumb as.

I would wish Des all the best, but he's at Manly so he can get f**ked.

If they keep him away from the contracts they should do alright. My only knock on him in his final couple of years at Canterbury is that he failed to adapt, his gameplan of 2012-2014 was played by that point. That and he completely ignores the lower grades to the point of having zero depth.
