The PNGRFL named the PNG Team to play England Knights yesterday.

UPDATED: PNG LNG Kumuls coach Michael Marum has named the team for the upcoming matches against England Knights.

Two notable absentees from the side that played the Australian Prime Minister's XIII last week are Rhyse Martin and Daniel Russell, who both ruled themselves out of selection for the England matches in order to recover from a long season and prepare for a strong 2019.

PNG LNG Kumuls coach Michael Marum said: "It's unfortunate that Rhyse and Dan won't be part of this camp after their outstanding performances against Australia, but we also understand their decisions due to the amount of football they've played this season. They are important members of our team in future."

Players who were unavailable for the Prime Minister's XIII clash, including Luke Page and Kurt Baptiste, remain unavailable for these matches and look forward to pulling on the PNG jersey again in 2019.

Was the English team decent ?
A bit of a mix between up and coming young players and older more established ones who probably will never play for the full England side barring a huge injury crisis.

  1. Niall Evalds (Salford Red Devils)
  2. Tom Davies (Wigan Warriors)
  3. Toby King (Warrington Wolves)
  4. Liam Sutcliffe (Leeds Rhinos)
  5. Tom Lineham (Warrington Wolves)
  6. Chris Atkin (Hull KR)
  7. Declan Patton (Warrington Wolves)
  8. Robert Mulhern (Hull KR)
  9. Sam Powell (Wigan Warriors)
  10. Matthew Lees (St Helens)
  11. Oliver Holmes (Castleford Tigers)
  12. Jack Hughes (Warrington Wolves)
  13. Dean Hadley (Hull FC)
  14. Kruise Leeming (Huddersfield Giants)
  15. Joe Philbin (Warrington Wolves)
  16. James Batchelor (Wakefield Trinity)
  17. Brad Fash (Hull FC)

Sorry but the kumuls should be beating this England knights side. Especially at home. The kumuls like France don’t seem to be progressing at international level. Very disappointing.
Perhaps we are doing a disservice to the England Knights and perhaps they have some talented young players. I really wouldn't know. Only time will tell

That England knights side would finish in the bottom half of super league. I was honestly expecting the kumuls to win easily by about 16-20 points.

The PNG Team which played the PMXIII game a fortnight ago would have won easily.

For some reason the coach went against recent selection policy and included 3 Digicel Cup Players who weren't really up for it when there were better options available from the Hunters or other QCup Teams.

In the end though it was only the goal kicking that was the difference and PNG also had a good try disallowed for a foward pass right at the start of the 2nd half.

With Segeyaro and Kyle Laybutt back for the 2nd game this week maybe PNG will be a bit more patient with the ball.

Strange thing to say given that 7 of those knights players played for teams in the grand final. Maybe your just getting a bit over exited re the kumuls given you don’t even know all their players
