Apparently the next big thing out of Fiji has just signed for the Brisbane Broncos. Let’s hope if he makes it in league he sticks around in the game for a few years and with Fiji preferably.

Don’t want to see him pulling on a maroons jersey or kangaroo jersey. We need a strong Fiji who are the forgotten men of international RL after beating NZ.

He wouldn’t be eligible for Queensland.

Incidentally makes you wonder why more NRL teams don’t raid more players from the Fijian u20’s and 7’s teams,

Anybody know what became of that Fijian 7’s player that Canberra signed last year?

Think he was playing in the local Canberra league to get upto speed with RL last I heard.

Western Force signed him - by all reports went very well this year. Probably should have been given a pre-season, not come half way through the season.

New Oceania Championship should help go part of the way of keeping these players loyal to the Bati, especially if Fiji earn promotion to Division 1 and have the opportunity to play the likes of the Kangaroos and Kiwis.

Hopefully over that time there will also be some additional incentives for players to declare their allegiance to Tier 2 nations

Can anybody give a list of all the Fijian born players signed upto NRL clubs and Queensland&NSW cup teams??

Just also read that the warriors have also signed some Fijian schoolboy from Union too.

That’s a pretty impressive list. There’s also a youngster from union that the warriors have signed and vudogo himself.

You’d expect that list to grow and grow each year. Especially with the Fijian side in the NSW cup.

What’s the Oceania championship?

https://www.nrl.com/news/2018/11/11/rlif-confirms-nines-world-cup-oceania-cup-in-2019/

New regional comp played for by NZ, Aus, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji & PNG. It is being held in 2019 and 2020 then every two years after that (2022, 2024 etc). It is split into two divisions:

Div 1: Aus, NZ, Tonga
Div 2: Samoa, Fiji, PNG

It is assumed that there will be P&R between the two divisions. Australia may or may not play in the 2020 version due to the Kangaroo tour but I think they will play their two matches before they head off to the U.K.
