Today, North Queensland Cowboys player Scott Bolton appeared in Waverley Local Court as part of the legal process surrounding an allegation made against him in May of 2018.

Both police and the complainant agreed to the fact sheet tendered to the Court which alleged a common assault and confirmed Scott's insistence that he never touched the complainant in an indecent way.

Scott pleaded guilty to the common assault and the Court accepted that there was no indecent conduct nor violence on his part.

The Court ordered that no conviction be recorded and imposed a 12-month good behaviour bond. No fine or any other sanction was imposed by the Court.

Scott will make a statement in due course.

As much as I like Scott Bolton as a straight up & down hard forward moulded from the by-gone era; I reckon the NRL would need to impose a fairly lengthly ban resulting from the guilty plea.

We will see.

As for the downgrade to a lesser charge, the victim was probably advised to accept the plea rather than the horrendous publicity surrounding a court case of this type.

No indecent conduct or violence.

So what the f**k do they claim as common assault?? He accidentally bumped into her or something.

Because he's a Cowboy player, he apparently is a commoner.

Seriously can some of these players either concentrate on getting ready for the next season, or think of England.

That may have been the case as the expression "assault" generally includes a battery, however, assault and battery are two separate crimes, and, an assault can include any act which intentionally or recklessly causes another person to apprehend immediate and unlawful violence.

Problem is that "attempted indecent assault" is not a chargeable offence in QLD.
Apparently (allegedly) he tried to do a Donald but missed - he snatched at her if you will.

Charges get downgraded all the time not because they might not be proven but it can save a shitload of court time and witnesses travelling etc to accept the downgraded charge as punishment is unlikely to be that much different with offenders with no criminal history.

Heard the result of this on the TV, the "I was too drunk to remember" defence is such a bad look and doesn't help the bogan moron perception of NRL players.
