Thanks Timmah and ALX for the updates.

It will be disappointing if NSWRL no longer put up all the teams on their website.

They are - as described they've moved from the live portal to the draws page.

Most games now have teamlists up there, albeit not as reader-friendly. LU will always have them

Does this mean there will be no live game portal with scores and interchanges etc?

No, it's just changed where it is.

The information for previous seasons is there in the draw pages and will be updated live as it always has been, just in a different location.

A couple of teams to watch in Harold Matts this year will be Souths, Cronulla and Newcastle.

Souths have 10 of their side who played Harold Matts last year, including fullback Joseph Suaalii who was one of the competition's top try scorers and extremely dominant playing up an age last season. Will be interesting to see what he and the team can do in their own age group.

There were 6 NSW players who made the Australian U15s Merit team last year. Three of these are with Cronulla - Kobie Wilson (hooker), Jed Hardy (lock) and William Abou-Arrage (prop). Newcastle had two with halfback Troy Pezet and forward Noah Reed and the Knights also have 4 others who were in the NSW CHS U15s team.

Parramatta appear to be the team to beat in SG Ball. 8 of their side have played for NSW Under-16s over the past two years.

Manly should be strong, having made the Harold Matts grand final for the past two years, however a number of their star players weren't listed. I expect Albert Hopoate to be in ISP of Flegg, and forwards Filimaua Filimaua-Tau and Tyreece Matangi haven't been listed.

Newcastle won Harold Matts in 2017 however Bradman Best will be up in ISP or Flegg. Their backrow should be a strength, with Jaron Purcell, Cooper Jenkins and Harry Croker all representing NSW in 2017. Purcell also played for NSW U18s last year.

Illawarra will also be a contender, with Aaron Schoupp and Max Feagai providing a dynamic centre combination.

Is there a reasons they play so early in the year? Rd 1 game in Perth today and it is absolutely scorching. Can’t be good for the kids and borderline unsafe in this heat I’d suggest.

Been starting early February for as long as I can remember.

Would make sense to play later in the day though.

They kick off in the morning here but still around 35degrees at 10am today!

Canberra came away with a big win but the lads kept trying to the end, though the score line may not reflect it. We are outgunned most games but the WA lads keep putting in.

Final score Pirates 20 - Raiders 64
