So, Fox manage to write an article based entirely on an SMH article. What Fox don't mention is that the same SMH article claims that the Sharks are currently under their cap limit....they won't necessarily lose a major player even if they do get hit with a large 1-season reduction in cap.

Speculation continued to mount the 2016 premiers could be hit with a salary cap penalty in the region of $500,000, but it was unclear on Tuesday night if the eventual handicap would reach that scale and be spread out over multiple seasons.

The Sharks board met on Tuesday night to debate a range of issues, including how to handle any proposed NRL fine and salary cap impediment.

The Sharks are understood to still have room available under their cap this season, hence the sight of former free agent Segeyaro returning to the club on Tuesday having trained all summer on his own.
