And looking at the Annual Report. . . .

https://www.parraleagues.com.au/content/uploads/2019/01/PARRALEAGUES_Annual-Report-2018_WEB.pdf

We still made 2M profit.
Also the stats on Page 22 make for interesting Reading.

Sale of goods
Bar sales $ 1,799,322
Catering sales $ 2,918,282
Merchandise sales $ 693,671
Total sale of goods $ 5,411,275
Services
Poker machine $45,627,264
NRL distribution $12,426,650 (Up From 6,916,667)
Sponsorship and hospitality $ 5,962,714
Commissions received $ 445,343
Members subscription $ 155,025
Gate ticket sales $ 2,762,078
TenPin sales $ 276,995
Total services $67,656,069

Sarcasm On :But remember boys and girls you going to the club and buying a drink and having a meal is doing enough to make money for the club: Sarcasm off.

We lost 10 million last year, 4 million this year and the club got $5m or so increase in NRL grant. The rest is fiddling around the edges.

The SMH article is here.
https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/ee...-ambition-at-new-stadium-20190415-p51eeg.html

Also the League Club report came out in . . . .January so Sarcasm On yeah this is breaking news Sarcasm Off

In the fair dinkum department the club has lost money every single year except for 1986 when to my understanding we made $555,333 profit and Fitzy came out and said we wouldn't need the leagues club ever again.
Not many people make money owning a pro sporting organisation. It’s usually an expensive hobby for rich merkins who own a few oil fields.

If the Football club ever gets to be "break even" (eg: no $ from the Leagues club), what is the good of the Leagues club from then on to the Football club?
The Leagues club would be getting a lot for free.
If I was the Football club I would charge the Leagues club $5mill a year for everything they get from us especially on game day. Otherwise the Football club could try to build its own club house on Kings oval or somewhere closer to the future tram line. Could the NRL take the licence of the Eels Leagues club and gift it to the Eels Football club then open up down the road.
The football club is owned by the leagues club. They don’t get to dictate terms.

The NRL could decide to charge Parra Leagues Club a $5mill per year licence fee and then gift that to the Football club.

Max Donnelly seems to want the Leagues club to spend zero on the Football club. Whereas what I would like is every cent the Leagues club makes going towards the Football club to be spent on things like promotion etc to make the Eels Football club one of the biggest in the country. Bigger than the Broncos, Swans and Collingwood etc.

Try starting a club with the number of poker machines and revenue the parramatta leagues club has, it wouId be impossible!

The NRL could take the license of the Leagues club and gift it to some new organisation called...
Or another organisation could purchase the NRL licence and NRLC (company) from the Leagues Club. .

Such a pity that the Football club is no longer registered organisation. It was wound up by Scott Seward.

Did you not read my quote.

All told, All year the drink and food makes just under $4m, that includes the 11 game days. (that didn't happen in the last 2 years)

Pokies make $45 Million, over the year, including the 11 game days. (that didn't happen in the last 2 years)

What the hell does the Leagues club get from the NRLC that is worth $5m?

The Leagues club was built off of the football teams name. The original poker machine licences the clubs had would have been linked to the football club/team. They owe the football club everything.

Members and patronage ..... im sure there is a gazillion people who are members who arent league fans, but there are plenty who are that wouldnt give a f**k about the big building if it wasnt established for the footy team - those merkins put their cash in pokies and buy stuff too

A gazillion you say? I'm sure @Gary Gutful would be on to that.

On the Gus Gould podcast he talks about scouting for juniors. He said he is not very good at it but can say that as he watched his son play in the Sharks juniors that he used to say to his wife that Jaemon Salmon will go all the way. He said that a lot of the mums did not like Salmon because he was always better than others and a little merkin.

Interestingly he said that he repped all over the place throughout his junior years and even played Oztag for Australia.

So the Salmon was tagged at one point.... And the Sharks still let him get away....

^^^ he also said that with respect to the media fretting over Gutherson not being signed - they can go f**k themselves. He said when it comes to your top players, deals never get done after two meetings. It's normal to take numerous meetings before you find common ground. He said the the Eels were being sensible and that punters should not take any notice of the media demanding that things happen on their timetable.

Theres a difference between negotiating with your own club for a few months or meetings compared to declining couple of others and putting yourself out in the open market.

Or is the media making it up, and Gutho waiting for a 3rd offer to come round the corner from the club?

Six months after Mitchell Moses was shown the door, the Parramatta Eels have tabled the halfback a three-year extension.

NRL.com can reveal the Eels this week put forward a contract to extend his tenure until the end of 2022, the same year Clint Gutherson's extension offer expires.

Moses's manager, Isaac Moses, hasn't accepted the deal - however he's been caught up dealing with the fallout from Israel Folau's controversial social media post last week.

It's an extraordinary turn of events considering the Eels were willing to release Moses last year following a horror campaign that culminated in the club collecting the wooden spoon.

Faced with the reality of having to find a new home, Moses returned to training with a renewed attitude and has recaptured the form that lifted him into contention for a State of Origin debut before last season.

Moses and Corey Norman, who has made a successful switch to St George Illawarra, have benefited from their break-up over the off-season - with the former enjoying the added responsibility of being Parramatta's chief playmaker.

Meanwhile, the Eels will meet Gutherson’s manager Sam Ayoub before the Easter Monday clash against the Wests Tigers to discuss the future of their skipper.

Gutherson tight-lipped on Eels future

The club doesn’t want to lose him, but a game of chicken is playing out between Parramatta and Gutherson’s manager.

The Eels, who before Christmas offered the fullback a three-year deal worth $1.5 million, last week revised that offer and tabled an upgraded three-year $1.9 million contract.

But Ayoub rejected that offer and is still holding out hope of securing a four-year deal worth close to $2.8 million, despite originally asking for a four-year $3.3 million deal.

Perhaps under previous administrations the club would have folded, but chairman Sean McElduff is a renowned negotiator having overseen multimillion-dollar deals during his time at Westpac.

Under the club’s new recruitment and retention policy, all members of the committee - which includes McElduff, CEO Bernie Gurr, coach Brad Arthur, general manager Mark O’Neill and recruitment manager Peter Sharp - must agree.

The Eels realise they run the risk of losing Gutherson to rival clubs and it’s something they don’t want to occur, but won’t be railroaded into paying what they deem to be overs.

The danger for Gutherson is he is a fan favourite. He is by far the most popular player with Blue & Gold supporters.

While his manager is entitled to act in his best interests and get him more money, there’s a fear the squabble over $60-70,000 a season could dent the skipper's reputation.

Inside the Bankwest coach’s box with Brad Arthur

South Sydney have indicated they won't be in a position to chase Gutherson, while Manly have some salary cap limitations that could hamper any attempts to lure him back to the northern beaches.

The Cowboys are another team on the lookout for a fullback, but they are still holding out a glimmer of hope of New York Jets recruit Valentine Holmes returning to the NRL.

Plus, they would have to pay a lot more than the Eels are willing to offer to convince him to pack up and start fresh in a new city.”
