Is this fact or rumour? I just googled Reece Robson, came across a title that says > (I can’t see the article but you have to assume it’s about him)2DD9A396-62EC-44CE-BCB5-5E6B56BF3522.jpeg

Millward is not the problem.

At the end of the day, he provides Mary with the tools to be successful.

Mary selects the tools and uses them as he sees fit to the best of his limited ability.
Why spend all the time and money developing a great young junior only to have NFI Mary decide he is not what he wants. Surely someone like our CEO should get involved and have a word with Mary.

Well if that is the case, why was not that in the press and why extend Mary if he is so unpopular with one of our best and brightest young juniors.

Because there is a bloke on Mary's staff who is the brother of two of the nations lead NRL reporters.

The propaganda ministry is well and truly in place.

In addition Australian whistle blower culture tends to blame the whistle blower over the bloke who is actually the problem.

possm - i agree to a point, but

Mary destroyed the relationship with Robson by promising him game time and not delivering. Robson simply doesnt trust or like mary any more. At that point it doesnt matter what Millward says, Robson was always walking away from Mary and by extension the club.

I tend to believe this but where are you getting your information from?

So your view is that no matter how good Robson would be for the Club and the team, Millward makes the decision not to offer an extension purely because Mary has not yet given him an opportunity to shine.

Doesn't that blow away the whole idea of having Millward outside of Mary's control? Remember the statement from Doust about SGI following the NFL system where the Director of Pathways/Recruitment/Retention ……. would provide Mary the players to coach. In this way there would be continuity without disruption when there is a change of coach.
This is a new level of rambling.

Millward would be negligent, borderline reckless, to offer Robson top-shelf money to be a back up hooker. He would also be negligent, borderline reckless, to get rid of McInnes and retain Robson based on what we have seen so far.

The reason we haven’t seen enough of Robson in the top grade is Mary. Everything flows as a result of that.

Millward manages the squad. He does not select the team, that is on Mary. He recruits, retains and provides strategic planning for players to develop through the grades, but the player selection is on Mary. If a players does not want to be here as they are not being selected in first grade, that is on Mary, not Millward.

I genuinely can’t see how you are unable to grasp this concept. It seems pretty straightforward..

So who is responsible for keeping Widdop around for so long? He should be arrested for sabotage and vandalism!

No one knows for sure, it’s a strong rumour based on a couple of news articles. It’s yet to be confirmed.

I'll take 50 for leaving thanks Alex...
Honestly can't see him staying with McInnes, arguably the 4th best hooker in the comp behind Cook, Hodgson and Smith, signed for another 2.5 years and inform... Also doesn't help that he's not getting a crack at 1st grade off the bench. We'd much rather carry a specialised centre/FB....
I can't see an incentive to stay, especially with clubs more than willing to promise the world for the signature of an Aus schoolboy 9. Sucks, but thems the breaks.

Yep, I reckon you’re right. This seems inevitable, you can’t keep them all as they say. I reckon Field’s a good chance to leave after this year if he shows any form in reserves. It’s not like he’s going to go past Hunt or Norman. You get the feeling though that the club won’t let Lomax go quite as easily.

His only path forward would be fullback!

But Millward said that Field is our long term fullback.

Lomax is definitely the anointed one. Doesn't hurt that he is far more versatile and athletically gifted than both Robson and Field. He's proven that he has the aggression and physicality to match it as a bench back rower, albeit with 8 min stints... I could deal with losing both Jai and Robson, although not ideal. But would be filthy if we had Zac poached under our noses!
