in the two games yesterday it seems the dogs and storm go the knees, rabbits and roosters like the hips and ribs

Seen it a lot lately. Not penalised.

They’ll save the penalty for a crucial moment when a favoured team needs a get out of jail card. The Perpetrator will be labelled a villain.

My advice to players is to do it, except in the final minutes against the Storm or Brisbane.

With how well they make initial contact now it is not often that you see the third man in actually being necessary for anything except the wrestling manoeuvers.

To get rid of the 3rd man in, wrestling, dancing etc why not use rugby's rule of releasing the player soon as the tackle is completed. The only reason the 3rd player comes in is too peel off the tackled player slowly enough to allow the defensive line to reset.

As soon as the player with the ball hits the ground the tacklers would have to release and roll away. This would lead to very fast play the balls with 3 less players in the defensive line which would really open up the game. Because the game would open up more we wouldn't see the 3rd man. In addition to faster play the balls we'd also get more offloads and second phase play.

The game would be dominated by dummy half running!

The fans seem to be in agreement that the 3 man tackles are a blight and something has to be done about it.

That would only work if you changed the rules regarding markers - otherwise all you would see is dummy half runs.

The Raiders are leading the charge on this. They are so passionate about 3 men tackles that when Josh Hodgson is involved in a 3 man tackle, he'll actually make a call and that signals the other two players to drop out of the tackle

He's such a ornament to the game.

Don't admit that - Raiders will soon be accused of destroying the game

Either call held before third man comes in or make it two men in the tackle only and reduce interchanges so we dont get mountains barging forward for 20m. If I was NRL I'd trial that in the pre season games and see what happens.
