I can understand it if the club get rid of them but when a player cracks the sads and requests a release because he isn't getting the position he wants then it seems stupid.

It is a tough one. The player won't play well and can you afford cap wise to play them in NSW Cup. Personally I'd keep x player in NSW Cup .Eventually they will comeback and get released for free

I don't understand how a player can request release yet we still have to pay a chunk of his pay at the new club.

Looking at girds article he isn't impressed with dwz and if what he says is correct then I think he will struggle at any club he goes too. He is and always has been a winger just because you like a position and had a couple of decent attempts at it doesn't mean that's your position.
Hell I like sex and go OK doesn't make me a porn star...

You got to think the club gave him a bit of a nudge out the door.

Well Maloney wasn't a shock. him and DWZ going is probably all that is needed
Maloney, I agree. DWZ, yes if he is the instigator (which from all accounts is the case).
We should try and hang onto Edwards and Mansour though if the rumours are true. With the Zelezniak brothers as good as gone and Waqa Blake possibly injured, we are suddenly lacking in experienced outside backs.

Too early to say, but he I really liked what I saw.

So did I.

I also thought that Sione Katoa was a little better last night too. Set Grant up for his first try too.

I sat down last night with a pen and paper and actually analazed the game. For the 2nd time this year (other game being Souths) the team obviously worked for each other.

The forwards especially Reg ran like they did of old.

It wasn't brilliant but it was better.

I think we will. You want to have money to spend when talent is available. I just don't see enough around to warrant mass changes. Edwards is off contract end of next season anyway.

I was listening to a podcast of pre game last night. About 21 mins they said that Ivan had refused to speak with MMM pre game.

Girdler remarked that it was probably because him and MG had gone hard about Ivan's work and the team.

My thought is since both players are legends of the club why weren't questions like they had asked behind closed doors, (rather than doing the whole tabloid thingy)

Then both retired players comming forward with a 'sanitized' version of the conversation.
Rather than doing a Kenty and becomming a loud mouth snook raging and frothing at the mouth.

I liked what Edwards did last night. I'd imagine he's not on the money that DWZ is on. Maloney will go come years end and Lui will take his place.

I am interested to see how big Sam comes back this weekend. I hope he has a great game.

Edwards is a good solid fullback but the team balance needs a ball player back there. Given he has a good attitude and wouldn't be on much money. I'd give him a chance to develop that game. Can decide this time next year to re-sign him or not

I think keep him for next year as well, as he can be cover for fullback and wing. But we need to sign Drinkwater as well.

If DWZ get his request of an immediate release, it would be great to get Drinkwater before June 30.
