I really can't see the Panthers releasing RCG, they have just lost Grant for the year (for good) and will be super light on props. They will get Peachey back from the Titans but he will play in the centers as both Whare and Blake are injured. If it does eventuate there must be some serious unrest at the foot of the mountains.
IMHO RCG would be a massive improvement for our squad, no Lattimore in first grade and a much better prop rotation all round.

I agree that lack of TPA's and located in Woolongong is a disadvantage, but I think Millward has done a great job since taking over recruitment. He has brought K. Sims, T Sims, Norman, Hunt, Graham and McInnes to our clubs as recruitment manager. He has also retained most of our best young talent. Yes our outside backs are weak. I think outside backs are one of the easiest positions to fill. Props and halves are the hardest positions to fill.
I don't know if the Wollongong (or Mary?) factor came into it or TPA's but I remember when we just about had the Luke Keary deal done and dusted in 2016 after negotiations that seemed to go on forever. He only had to sign on the dotted line after verbally agreeing to terms ($1.2 M over 3 years). Then he got a phone call from Trent Robinson and a brief coffee and chat and he had signed with the Roosters before you could blink.

Yes you are right Merahputih, SGI almost had Keary signed but I've heard that when this was happening, he asked his girlfriend's dad if he could marry her. Unfortunately, her dad is a mad Roosters supporter and when Robbo made approaches to Keary, his future dad-in-law said that he would agree to him marrying his daughter provided he signed with the Roosters instead of the Dragons. Keary and his wife are happily married and a little lad is on the way and will have a rooster jersey on when his mum takes him to see his dad play. It is just a shame that his wife's dad didn't follow the Dragons.
Cheers

It is my understanding that the club can not source TPA's for the players, not sure why Millward has been blamed for this if that is the case?

Exactly, they are the responsibility of the player or in the majority of cases the players agent.
Also had a lot to do with the marketablity of the player factored into the marketability of the club and exposure, ie: playing finals football.

And then there's the Roosters.

Whulst we may attract the interest of a marketable player, the other factors are against us.

Very true Merahputih!! On top of Keary's missus's dad being a roosters supporter, Keary would have definitely weighed up Mary versus Robinson and the answer to him was a no brainer.

On this thread though, I think that RCG would be a great pick-up for the Dragons if in fact he is a player Penrith wants to move on. If so, then hopefully Millward is working on it day and night and, hahaha ha, hopefully RCG's partner/wife 's dad is not a Roosters supporter.

Cheers

Panthers have dropped RCG to reserve grade so not using him anyway. He wants out and Penrith probably have someone in mind to replace him.

You boys could do much worse than Hetherington. He's stocky, with good leg drive, deceptively quick and very aggressive. Too aggressive if anything, but he's still a kid and there's every chance he'll learn to control it over time and end up as one of those players you love but everyone who's not a fan of your club hates. Wouldn't break the bank and would likely be hungry as hell for a shot at FG given he seems a long way off contention at Penrith. The are rumours of off field issues though.

I doubt you'll get RCG. I can't see us being willing to pay the amount of freight needed to make the deal work for both parties.

I agree Jack probably needs a fresh start. Not playing any grade at the moment. Unsure why.

Off field issues like this guy? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Carter_(rugby_league)

If so it is not what we need.

Certainly not anywhere near that level. We're only talking completely unsubstantiated rumours.

It was such a waste of talent for Paul Carter, I liked the way he played the game, just off the field he was a grub. Being panthers fans which of RCG or Hetherington would you least like to lose? How do you feel about the rumours linking you with Packer?
