Is Ryan Papenhuyzen the new Billy Slater?

Dutch heritage means that he is a Dutch-Australian and qualified for the Netherlands national team, probably for the 2025 World Cup.

If you have another national descent that influences your thinking and loyalties, even though you are born in Australia, that makes your identity a hyphenated one. So Michael Chee Kam is Samoan-Australian, as is Anthony Milford (they both play for Samoa), Robbie Farah and Mitchell Moses are Lebanese-Australians (they have both played for Lebanon), and Ryan Papenhuyzen is Dutch- Australian.

We seem to drifted off topic. The thread question was: Is Ryan Papenhuyzen the new Billy Slater?

A lot of good judges think that he is. I for one would like to hear what Heaps and Buzz think.

No room for him at Melbourne, he’ll end up at another club drifting off into obscurity. Shame as he has got talent.

It'll be interesting to see how the Storm figure out the young halves over the next few years, Croft, Hughes, pap, Drinkwater and a few others all aiming to keep/gain the 1 or 7 jersey

A lot of people think the team played better with Hughes at 7 and Pap at 1, but Croft definitely has potential, so it's a tricky one.

Storm could’ve used him in the 2016 GF
Wouldn’t have changed the outcome though.

Drinkwater is off to cowboys where he will likely push Kahu back to reserve grade, Croft will only come good once cam smith retires though he may not be in the team anymore by then.
