Saturday afternoon watching a game at north Sydney oval

Lived at Kirribilli for a few years in the 80s and often would wander up to North Sydney Oval to watch a game on Saturday afternoon, I remember one great game especially between Norths and Canterbury with Norths winning 25-24.

Penrith winning the 1991 GF. Roycie’s try. There were a lot of likeable players and great characters in that Panthers side. I felt like the rugby league world was behind them for that one.

The last 10 mins of the 2015 GF. Rest of the game was a bit of a bludger but the end more than made up for it.

Watching Fitler play. I think people tend to forget how good he was. Should be mentioned more in immortal discussions. He could do it all and played with distinction in 3 different positions (5/8, lock and centre). He could break a set line at will with that big left foot step, amazing defender, great vision, great long ball, great offload, good kicking game, a leader and a winner.

1997 ARL Grand Final. Even the neutrals, such as me, were in tears of joy for the Newcastle Knights at the SFS. Never had so many people hug me or shake hands after a game of football.

Don't understand RL fans who are happy at clubs being punished for tarnishing the game by cheating, we should all be disgusted about the Storm, Sharks, Eels etc behaviour that damaged the game.

I can’t remember who it was but I remember seeing footage of a player who got the ball caught up in his jersey. He ended up playing the ball with the jersey still wrapped around it.
