Mary is one of Johnson's mates. He ain't going anywhere.
Only way we get rid of Mary is if the Media drive a nail into his coffin.
We need all media to turn on him then he's finished.

I haven't read the article so it's only my friend's interpretation. Roy Masters wrote today on Mark Coyne, and made mention of Dragon's poor season. Apparently the poor year is solely attributable to the JDB saga.

Now Roy Masters is one of the best league writers (I use that term loosely) around. If he can't get it right, sure as hell the other fake news journalists won't.

The Dragons are dead in the water after a 40-18 pummelling from Penrith led by a double from pint-sized flyer Brian To'o on Friday night.

The Panthers' seven-tries-to-three drubbing buried a Red V roster worthy of a top-four finish in lowly 14th place with seven games left in the regular season.

Only twice in 11 attempts have the Dragons won since Anzac Day.

And despite working to a surprise 12-10 lead before halftime, St George Illawarra's second-half capitulation will have the dogs at Paul McGregor's door once more, particularly after million-dollar half Ben Hunt was kept on ice due to his Origin workload.

Ivan Cleary's outfit meanwhile are now one win outside the top four themselves, just two months after sitting equal last.

To'o was the story and the smiling assassin for the victors, having been told repeatedly as a junior that he was too small to survive in the league's land of giants.

Measuring all of 174 centimetres on the right wing, To'o stood tallest in a see-sawing first half with two scintillating tries that the Panthers then turned into a seventh win on the trot.

To'o makes it two

Aerial acrobatics produced his first after seven minutes, the 20-year-old flying on to a deft James Maloney chip, continuing the veteran half's Midas touch which would produce three try assists for the evening.

Maloney was on the money again when Nathan Cleary threaded a grubber through, only to be checked off the ball by Tyson Frizell as he pursued another four-pointer.

Soon enough though Penrith were putting the boot in again.

Three sets on without having left the Dragons' 20-metre zone, rookie rake Mitch Kenny dinked a grubber through from dummy-half with Brent Naden capitalising in the 19th minute.

Just as the Red V looked to be on the rack, Luciano Leilua loomed as an unlikely 116-kilo halfback hero.

Ravalawa gets the Dragons on the board

As replacement for ring-in No.7 Darren Nicholls while he underwent a HIA, Leilua drifted down the Dragons' right edge and created an overlap to have Mikaele Ravalawa over in the corner.

The visitors continued to press, but handling errors and obstruction penalties had all the hallmarks of a down-and-out side trying to turn the tide.

When they finally did, Leilua was again in the thick of it.

Cameron McInnes found space around a tired Panthers' ruck and Leilua in support, with Dufty then taking the Dragons well down field.

A surprise two-point lead came with Josh Kerr's maiden NRL try off the next play.

It lasted all of three minutes until To'o struck again.

Shooting through the Dragons' middle and making Corey Norman look all sorts of average, To'o strode away for his second try of the night and another four-point advantage.

When Jonus Pearson coughed up possession two minutes into the second half, with Moses Leota dotting down a couple of tackles later, the Dragons were done.

Maloney and Cleary made sure of it in the 53rd minute, the latter scoring from the former's grubber for 28-12.

Kikau sin-binned for shot on Nicholls

A second try to Naden, followed by Reagan Campbell-Gillard strolling through, blew out the scoreline further making Paul Vaughan's 68th minute return of serve too little too late.

In between Viliame Kikau was sin-binned and put on report for a late shot on Matt Dufty.

With the Rabbitohs and Eels looming in the next two weeks, the hits could well keep coming for the beleaguered Dragons.

We had no control over the game right from the start. 20 minutes or so in and the possession 70 / 30 against us and we were lucky to go to half time only 4 points down. At halftime Cleary Snr knows what to tell his boys to improve and get the win, Mary has no answers for his troops.
Directionless on the field and poorly coached off it. We have some really handy forwards but they're useless weapons in the hands of a fool.

Panthers burn Dragons for seven in a row
  • r0_0_800_600_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg

The seven-try Penrith Panthers have thrashed struggling St George Illawarra 40-18.
A first-half double from rookie Brian To'o has inspired Penrith to a 40-18 rout of St George Illawarra and extend their NRL winning streak to seven.

A week after producing an acrobatic brace over Gold Coast, To'o again lit up Panthers Stadium with another double on Friday night.

Centre Brent Naden also nabbed a pair in a contest that was separated by just four points at halftime and seemingly headed for a dogfight.

But the home side turned on the afterburners with a four-try, 16-minute blitz in the second half to leave the Dragons' campaign in tatters.

Moses Leota, Nathan Cleary and Reagan Campbell-Gillard also scored as the Panthers improved their for-and-against and improved to seventh on the ladder.

Penrith are also now within two points of third-placed Canberra - who they face next week - when they will also attempt to secure a club record-equalling eighth straight win.

It was easily the best attacking display of the season for Ivan Cleary's side, obliterating their previous season-high of 24 points registered just last week.

More importantly for the coach, halves Nathan Cleary and James Maloney - combining for just the third time during their run - had their attack humming from the kick-off.

The NSW State of Origin halves set up four tries between them.

Naden looked to have posted opening points in the corner but was denied by a desperate Matt Dufty, who was penalised for a shoulder charge.

Penrith didn't have to wait long to draw first blood however, with To'o producing his first display of acrobatics with his aerial plant of a Maloney kick.

Naden eventually got his first try not long after.

St George Illawarra responded through Mikaele Ravalawa, and took a shock lead when Josh Kerr strolled through in the 35th minute.

But To'o ensured the Panthers had the advantage into the break when he was turned inside and found some lazy defence through the middle for a solo try.

To'o and Naden, both of whom made their debuts this year, now have six tries apiece from as many games.

Penrith never looked back from there, taking full advantage of a Dragons side that showed little second-half resistance before dropping their third straight game.

There was drama late in the second half when Viliame Kikau was bizarrely sin-binned for what was ruled a late shot on Dragons halfback Darren Nicholls.

Humor me this, Dragons faithful; if you were a sniveling, ass licking hack that Mary appears to be, what would your first panic induced action be when put under pressure from within? Of course people like him always go for the deflecting option, and as such Ben Hunt has fallen on his sword to buy Mary more time. Which big name players head will be next on the Inquisitions list? Graham? Norman? Sims?

It's not all doom and gloom though, because the pressure that incited the idiots defensive maneuver is a sign of light at the end of the tunnel.
Go the blues.

Penrith Panthers blow St George Illawarra away 40-18 to all but end red V's season

St George Illawarra's season looks all but over after the Dragons succumbed to a 40-18 loss to Penrith on Friday night.

The Panthers secured their seventh win in a row to climb to seventh on the NRL table on 20 points, while the Dragons remain in 14th - four points out of the top eight with seven rounds remaining after their third straight loss.

Coach Paul McGregor's gamble to rest representative halfback Ben Hunt appeared to backfire as the Dragons slumped to a 22-point defeat, their 11th in 17 matches this season.

The Dragons now look almost certain to miss the NRL finals for the sixth time in the last eight seasons and third time in last four years under McGregor.

Even the return of inspirational prop James Graham from a broken leg couldn't lift St George Illawarra, with Gareth Widdop's potential comeback from a serious shoulder injury looking like it will come too late if he is fit to play South Sydney next week.

Penrith led 10-0 midway through the first half thanks to an acrobatic Brian Lo'o try and Brent Naden's effort from Mitchell Kenny's grubber.

But the Dragons hit back to take the lead. Mikaele Ravalawa scored his 10th try of the season after a brilliant run and pass from Luciano Leilua.

Then a Cameron McInnes break out of dummy half marched St George Illawarra down field with help from Leilua and Matt Dufty. From the next play, Josh Kerr charged over from close range to score his first NRL try.

The Dragons though were unable to take their 12-10 lead to half-time, with Lo'o scoring his second just before the break despite the best efforts of Ravalawa to hold him up.

A big set for the @NRL_Dragons!

As much as the first half had been a contest it was all Penrith in the second.

The rampant Panthers ran in four unanswered tries in the first 19 minutes after half-time with Moses Leota, Nathan Cleary, Naden and Reagan Campbell-Gillard all touching down to blow the Dragons away.

With Penrith in front 40-12, they then lost Viliame Kikau to the sin bin for a late tackle. It appeared a strange decision, given Dragons fullback Dufty was not sent to the sin bin for a blatant shoulder charge to stop Naden from scoring in the opening minutes. A point Panthers captain James Maloney made to match officials.

Paul Vaughan scored a late consolation try for the Dragons who remain only four points outside the top eight. But they will likely need to win all seven of their remaining games if they are to make an improbable finals appearance this season.

Even the most one-eyed of Dragons fans would find that scenario unlikely.

    Leader Scoreboard

Penrith Panthers 40 (Brian Lo'o two, Brent Naden two, Moses Leota, Nathan Cleary, Reagan Campbell-Gillard tries. Nathan Cleary six goals)

    defeated

St George Illawarra Dragons 18 (Mikaele Ravalawa, Josh Kerr, Paul Vaughan tries. Corey Norman three goals)

    at Panthers Stadium, Penrith

Leader man of the match: James Maloney (Panthers)

Dragons' next three: Rabbitohs (away), Eels (home - Kogarah), Titans (home - Kogarah)

NRL 2019: Dragons hammered by red-hot Panthers, fall further out of finals race
Dragons Den
r0_12_5568_3712_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg

SORRY NIGHT: A brief first-half glimmer was all the Dragons could offer against Penrith on Friday night. Picture: NRL Photos

THEY were already off, but getting the wheels back on their finals cart looks well and truly beyond St George Illawarra after they slumped to a 40-18 defeat to Penrith on Friday night.

After a dismal showing against Canberra last week, the Dragons showed signs of life in the first half, but a try to Panthers flyer Brian To'o three minutes before halftime proved a killer blow.

With Ben Hunt rested, the Dragons lost stand-in No. 7 Darren Nicholls to an HIA 13 minutes in and briefly turned Luciano Leilua into the NRL's biggest halfback.

It wasn't be design but it worked a treat for the visitors, with Leilua producing two crucial handles in tries to Mikaele Ravalawa and Josh Kerr.

It overturned a 10-0 deficit and saw the visitors lead 12-10 only for To'o to breeze through some flimsy defence at the other end and re-take a four-point lead at the break.

From there the Dragons threw up the white flag, with Jonus Pearson spilling the ball cold on his line in their first set of the second stanza, allowing Moses Leota to cross a set later.

It was the first of four second half tries, with Nathan Cleary, Brent Naden, Reagan and Campbell-Gillard all getting across in the face of a meek surrender from the visitors.

Paul Vaughan posted the Dragons only try of the second stanza after Villiame Kikau was dispatched to the sin-bin in the 63rd minute for a late hit on Nicholls.

It will attract the attention of the match review panel amid a crackdown on late shots on play-makers, but it's about the only headache Panther coach Ivan Cleary was nursing at fulltime.

Paul McGregor has plenty with his side languishing in 14th spot on the ladder, while their finals chances appear mathematical and little else with seven games remaining.

Hunt will be back for next week's clash with the Rabbitohs, a match that will most likely see Gareth Widdop return from a dislocated shoulder.

On Friday's effort, it will take a lot more than that to perform CPR on their season, with calls for McGregor's head sure to grow louder.

The hosts started fast, enjoying 70 per cent of the ball and not making their first error until the 23rd minute. It showed in tries to To'o - who produced a spectacular effort to plant a well-placed kick from Maloney - and Naden inside 19 minutes.

Leilua briefly sparked the Dragons, handling beautifully in the lead-up to Ravalawa's 24th minute try, with Norman nailing the sideline conversion to cut the margin back to four 16 minutes before the break.

The Dragons took an unlikely lead 10 minutes later when Cam McInnes split the Panthers open through the middle. He found Leilua with Dufty looming in support before he was grassed by an ankle-tap from Kikau.

Kerr, who'd just been injected into the action, crossed on the next ruck, with Norman converting for a 12-10 lead.

It proved momentary, with To'o catching the Dragons big men napping through the middle to score next to the posts against the run of play two sets later.

It wasn't cut and dried, with Ravalawa very nearly holding him up, but the bunker could not find sufficient evidence to overturn the on-field call of try.

Leota got the ball rolling three minutes into the second half and it was all the Panthers from there, with Kikau's sin-binning the only real blemish on their second 40 minutes.

Keep this up and you will have Wagga Wagga successfully applying for your nrl licence.

It takes a lot of hard work to get such a talented nrl side to play so poorly.

The rabbits will put 50 on you.

This is crisis time.

You are actually favourites for the spoon not the grand final Mary.
