A bit of a sneaky tour here.

The last time we played Test matches in Sri Lanka was more notable for what happened off the park- it was Ross Taylor's last series as NZ captain (I think). The series was drawn and that was considered to be quite the achievement.

A good chance for us to bounce back from the WC blues.

I guess we're going to see a 15 man squad with an emphasis on spin?

Williamson (c)
Boult
de Grandhomme
Latham
Nicholls
Southee
Wagner
Waitling
Blundell/Seifert?
Santner
Sodhi
Young
Neesham
Raval
Taylor

Maybe a few players that could do without this tour- chiefly, Trent Boult?

I'd be happy resting Boult and letting Ferguson have a crack, still a quality test pace attack with Southee, Henry, Wagner and Lockie

Blundell over Seifert for tests but behind him and Phillips for shorter stufff

Hopefully Neesh is back at 6 in the test team... that's what I want, and us to win, think we're ranked #2? Good to consolidate that

Squad Kane Williamson (capt), Todd Astle, Tom Blundell, Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Jeet Raval, Will Somerville, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling

Boult it. Ferguson does not get a crack.

Also, Astle, Patel and Somerville...no Sodhi.

Blundell.

CDG over Neesham...or at least, CDG and not Neesham

NZ 137/3

A 3 wicket burst right before lunch had Sri Lanka on top but conservative tactics and bowling has allowed us to build a nice partnership.

Typical NZ. Easier getting the first 5 wickets than the last 5.

Williamson and Taylor with two of the more reckless dumb shots you'll see in the second innings.

We show more patience in the ODI's than we do in tests.

Williamson has had two un Williamson like innings

Strange team and squad imo

Wagner should play and why Colin is anywhere spin is important is bizarre

Waitling and Someville's partnership is key. Another 100 runs and I suspect we're in relatively good shape.

This 2nd Test is cruising to a no result with this rain, but New Zealand. I guess NZ will try to post a 150 lead and bowl Sri Lanka out v. cheaply.

Fine innings by Latham. de Grandhomme with a nice cameo too.

NZ add 50 runs in 5 overs to start the day before declaring.

Sri Lanka 4-2 after 4 overs. 87 overs remaining, although probably not due to rain/light.

A win and a drawn series is massively possible from here.

Go Black Caps
