The ANZAC game distorts the reality. It is a
huge statistical outlier and can be excluded because their is an explanation for it which is that it is really an NRL event promoted by Nine and the NRL to try to compete with AFLs ANZAC day event.
If other clubs get the same from Easter Monday then exclude those as well.

But no one does exclude them. There is only an appetite to exclude ANZAC Day for the roosters, not for the dragons nor the Storm or the teams that benefit from Good Friday and Easter Monday.

A good case for a consolidation /expansion club namely the Central Coast Bears. It's a win/win waiting to be added to this competition . But unfortunately it does not have the influential support it needs within the game to happen. It's basically a licence to print money with a Leagues club, modern ground on a rail way line and a real shot of regaining lost Bears fans along with cementing the Central Coast as another rugby league heartland area. Juniors are there and more would come with the anticipation of such a club. The local derbies would be immense: Central Coast v Newcastle and Bears v Manly Warringah. So many positives along with the high visibility the code gets when featured at this location on a major train line during game day.

You do realise that "expansion" actually means to go out and increase the fan base of the NRL and not just put another team in the same areas that there is already supporters and clubs??

How many people at the game on the Central Coast NOT already have an NRL team they support? That's the important number in regard to expansion, not the total crowd number.

Roosters have held no Friday 6 pm games this year and two thursday night games wilst parra played a rival in penrith on a thursday and have 2 rival games again on shitty nights, one against the dogs on a thursday and another against manly on a friday at 6pm, the roosters have held not one 6pm game on a friday. Parra will have a bigger average by years end still.

edit we had a 6k crowd in darwin, maybe we should only use sydney averages eh? hows that premiers.

Who cares?

Parra have so many more fans than the roosters who have zero remember?

They should outdraw the roosters at 3AM on a Wednesday.

You can use whatever numbers you want, there is still absolutely zero proof that Parra would have some epic crowd average if they were more successful.

Well they should because the point still remains that the Roosters crowds are terrible.

That's why it's important that expansion teams are given their own team and not a relocated club.
Regions have a proud identity.
The Central Coast should have had their own team years ago. No Bears, no Manly etc.... They have a massive RL supporter base there just dying for a local team, and they have the perfect stadium.
Perth should have their own team and not a relocated Sharks or whoever.
It pisses me off no end that Foxtel call the shots in regards to expansion, due to "Metrics".
They've done the same with the A-League. Wollongong or Canberra was a no brainer for expansion there, yet they shoved a new team in from a remote area of western Melbourne, that don't even have a local stadium to play at yet. All because the uptake in subscriptions "might" be better in Melbourne, than in Wollongong or Canberra. Yet the latter two teams would add more to the comp than some franchised plastic team.
I know the money comes from Fox to support our sports, but fair dinkum, a stronger supported local team would surely add more and strengthen the competition, thus increasing Pay TV uptake all over.
Anyway, it's a mute point. Live streaming will kill Foxtel eventually anyway.

Yes they are. But embarrassingly for many other clubs we have a far healthier home average than they do. End of story. Leading the way in Sydney on and off the field.

With regards the Roosters vs Eels crowds, if the situations were reversed, and the Roosters had had 3 decades of the Eels results, and the Eels had been as successful as the Roosters, the figures would be smashed in reverse.

And so you should with the continued years of success your club has had. 10 years of failure and your club would be a basket case attendance wise.

Maybe. But that is pure speculation. Sarcasm aside of course our crowds are rubbish and shits me no end that the10s of 1000s that that show up on gf day don’t attend regularly. but the amount of shit we cop on crowds is hilarious when the numbers don’t reflect the myth. We arent the best and are far from the worst. And then the most ridiculous arguments get trotted out as some sort of ridiculous proof. ie We don’t get to count Anzac Day lol. The dragons get the same game every 2nd year and our nrl era average is slightly higher than theirs. And they’ve been as competitive as we have.

The failure of the Roosters to convert: wealth, success, a great home ground, a precinct known for attending live sport in huge numbers, political influence, NRL control....into good crowds is depressing for the entire league.
The code should start again in the city and eastern suburbs.

I beg to differ. We have grown to be the leading Sydney nrl team in terms of home averages despite competing in a crowded precinct as you moronically point out. We are the model for other clubs to follow.

The Roosters are horrible role models for the game. The Swans have drawn up the blue print for attracting a crowd to Moore Park and the Roosters read it and decided to do the opposite. Dumb bastards.

I tend to agree with you re the shit you cop re crowds. They aren't what they should be considering the success your club as achieved over the years, but they hold up - just. I think it has more to do with demographics than anything else.
The west is a huge growth area and has far more potential to grow crowds. It's probably why the Eels membership numbers grow year upon year regardless of our pathetic continually failed seasons.
If we ever have a run of success like we did in the 80's, the Eels will be second only to the Bronco's.
The potential is huge, particularly with the new stadium.

Do you prefer a role model like Lane from parramatta on the front page of the tabloids?

Two afl teams in Sydney, and one of them draws no crowd, only one dumb bastard in this scenario.

The Swans are a one team town. The Manuka Midgets don't count.
Of course they are going to have a hold on all the ex-pats in this city.

I agree, but thought with this years success and new stadium that the crowds
Should be only going up for each home game, I have many parra tragic friends and do hope they get success consistently, but not for the many dick fans they have unfortunately, a lot blame every other team for the eels lack of success for 30 yrs.

You’ve been peddling this simple little argument for a while now and no one is buying it. I showed you last time you embarrassed yourself with this whinge that the swans outdid the ANZ NRL Tenant’s when they played there for several years. They compete with all Sydney teams not just us. They attract all afl fans in Sydney not those from the east, west, south or north. Next you’ll be comparing our crowds against Australia when they play the ashes at the scg or Bon Jovi when they fill the new Allianz. Ridiculous
