That is an understatement ! If RE had had some company coming to him/Super League and offering more euros for the Catalans TV deal, then it would fine for him to ask BeinSports for more.

But if there is no other company, and if he's therefore done this to BeinSports, and BeinSports have told him and Super League where to go, then that is unbelievable crap on his part.

But what else to expect from UK RL administration?

Let's piss of BeinSports and, in the process, work to utterly destroy what little there is left of French RL!

I wonder what Bernard Guasch is thinking of all this???

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. That would be one of several steps the people who run the game in the uk have taken to bring the sport to its knees.

Leigh forward Jacob Emmitt will move to Carcassonne for when the French season starts in November. He joined the Centurions from Toronto Wolfpack earlier this season, and will play in the Elite 1 Championship.


Toulouse deny Curran talk

Toulouse have denied speculation that Australian back-rower Rhys Curran is joining London Broncos. It was reported in the trade papers that he was going to move to the Broncos, but Toulouse say he is under contract for 2020 and so London cannot negotiate a deal with him.

Pia show ambition

Pia Baroudeurs, who are set for their second season back in Elite 2 Championship, are keen to get back to the top flight as quickly as possible, and have been busy with recruitment, signing 15 new players. Their recent recruits include Palau pair Maxime Scimone and Marc Meye. Pia were French champions as recently as 2013, and have played in the Challenge Cup.

27 players in France squad

Coach Aurelien Cologni has named a group of 27 players for the French team. The group will train at the end of August. Most of the selected players are from Catalans, Toulouse or are England-based. Only five players play in the French Elite: Bastien Canet, Joan Guasch, Saloty Mendy, Hugo Salabio and Vincent Albert.

Louis Anderson returns home

Former Catalans and Warrington forward Louis Anderson is returning home to New Zealand. He has spent a few months with VARL, the team coached by his brother Vinnie, but he has now decided to go home with his family.

Palau recruit former Dragon

Palau Broncos have signed experienced front-rower Jamal Fakir. Fakir, 36, played 144 times for Catalans in Super League and also played for Bradford, as well as winning 30 caps for France. He has most recently been with Lezignan. Also joining Palau is Paco Jamil, who has played for Carcassonne and Lezignan.

Moroccan prop Anas Naji has signed for Avignon from Carpentras. Naji was named in the Elite 2 Championship’s team of the year last campaign, and had a number of offers, before opting to join the 2018 champions.

Coming from a land Down Under

Lezignan have signed front-rower Ron Leapai from Australia. Leapai is a very explosive player that has been playing for the Canberra Raiders Cup side. He is the club’s second addition following the signing of Arnaud Bartes.

Kiwi to Montpellier

New club Montpellier Sharks are building a strong team for its first season. Mattais Hemuli is their latest arrival, coming from the Queensland Cup and will play in the National Division with his new team.

Realmont, who two lost finals last season in the Cup and Championship, have been busy with some eye-catching recruitment to prepare the National Division season. Morgan Carensac, from Albi in Elite 1, is back with his origin club along with Benoit Rigal, Emilien Gaillac and Jerome Fabre, who all come from Elite 2 clubs.

Justin Murphy in Toulon

Former Catalans Dragons winger Justin Murphy has taken on a coaching role at Toulon. They are in their second season in the Elite 2 Championship, with a medium term objective to reach the top division.

After scrapping their Under 19s side, Catalans have signed 10 promising young players who will spend time close to the first team squad. This emergency plan is hoped to quickly prepare for French players to step up to play in Super League.

What’s the deal with the national division FL?? Is there relegation from elite2 and promotion from the national division or do teams just step up from the national division when elite2 teams go bust?

Still think it’s a big mistake by the dragons to axe their u19’s side competing in the English competition. I wonder if Toulouse would send their u19’s team to the English comp if they got promoted to super league?

Need to go listen to The Progressive Rugby League podcast. They went on a trip to France, and there is some very interesting information that I have not seen reported elsewhere.
